Isn't the skimmer a little over size for a 70 gallon unless you are considering some serious bioload for that volume. I think that will be the approximate volume of both your displays put together. By meaning no compartment in the sump, do you mean a skimmer section and a return section or the sump with no baffles and the water level controlled by a float?
|
Well, I've already got a lot of fish with me that has to go in this system and will be adding a bunch more, so the bio load is going to be alot. Since I'm running bio pellets, didn't want to risk a bacterial bloom, hence the over-sized skimmer.
Yes, the water volume is more or less about 70gallons.. The sump is just a plain tank, with all the equipment dumped in, its easier to work with and i have the space to add more equipment. |

The tanks...with a slight problem. The Middle tank, there isn't enough space. Was in hurry to get the tanks and didn't think this thru and the tank guy isn't willing to replace it or cut the glass. So decided to cut the front glass with a Dremel.
Marked the glass..waiting to get the diamond bit..

Hey be careful while cutting the glass.
Id suggest you get a waste pane of glass and practice on it before working on the main tank, if you havent done it before. |

Hey just a tip its not easy getting a straight and even cut with a dremel and on glass it might be a bigger problem. I would suggest using those table saw type ones which carpenters use to cut wood. I think I have seen diamond blades for then in santacruz market, do you want me to check if they are available ?
Ideally I would suggest going to another shop and asking them to take apart, cut and reseal your aquarium if your regular guy isnt willing to do it |
