Ive always wondered in an overflow based system like a marine tank with a sump how is a balance achieved between the water flowing into the sump (via gravity I guess? ) and the water flowing out via the pump into the tank ?
Does it work like this : Tank is filled till just the level of the weir sump is also filled with water. Sump pump is turned on and some extra water is added to either tank and sump and then say if the pump is sending 10 lts per min into the tank only 10 lts will overflow from the tank into the sump ?
Just thought of this today and am not sure..... |

| It all depends on the volume of water the out flow pipe can handle. Weir sump level should not matter. The sump pump out put will exactly be the input. If for some reason your return is blocked beyond a certain point, you will have a flood in your house. the reason why you make a larger return than what is necessary or use a quiet over flow method like the beananimal or other such with multiple overflow pipes to prevent air entering and causing noise. Another factor, if you have a power cut and if the return is much lower then the surface water lever and you do not have syphon breaker on the return, there will be a larger volume of water entering the sump when the power is out which may result in a flood, the reason why you well need to make a hole in the return pipe above the water level to prevent this from happening. |

| well the best way is to buy a non return valve or if you have sprayers, then point them just a bit below water level. |

the setup is perfectly planned and executed, the amount of planning is evident in each and every step, and setup is also a very very low maintenance set up as most of it is automated like ATO, Dosing, lighting, temperature...
an excellent setup...
can you mention the brand of LED's used ? , i see meanwell drivers are used, any info on this will be helpful.
Regards
