Had  5  adult  Amano  shrimps.....  not  knowing  much  on  them  I  was  about  to  give  it  away...  having  packed  them  in  a  cover  was  waiting  for  a  friend  to  take  them  away...
The  belly  of  the  shrimp  was  fully  green  in  color..  and  the  next  day  I  observed  that  the  shrimp  had  completly  changed  its  color  and  the  cover  was  full  of  floating  larve....
Shifted  them  to  a  seperate  small  tank  and  have  kept  a  15w  CFL  on  24x7  as  described  on  some  website.
But  now  having  difficulty  in  feeding  the  larvae...

They  feed  on  phytoplanktons-from  what  I  have  read.  You  could  try  green  water.

The  problem  is  that  so  many  people  have  different

Ideas  about  ammano  breeding  but  I  doubt  how  many

Have  tried  one  .  Lot  of  people  do  cut  and  paste  for  the

Process  but  few  try  pratically  .

Can  any  body  put  some  focus  on  this  ...?

 Regards

 Rahul

Ammano  does  not  breed...  ROFL   Ammano  shrimp  breeds....   Chuckle   Chuckle

To  my  knowledge,  it  needs  brackish  water  to  breed.  How  were  you  able  to  breed  them  in  your  setup.  Please  do  share  us  some  details.

Tried  taking  some  pictures  of  the  newly  hatched  larve....  could  not  focus  on  the  larve  with  the  digicam  I  have.   If  any  one  has  a  good  camera  who  can  capture  the  larve  photos  are  welcome.....

I  have  lost  the  first  batch  of  larve  ...  not  knowing  how  to  feed  them.

Now  I  have  the  second  set  of  larve  floating  around.   If  anyone  can  give  me  some  phytoplanktons  culture  I  shall  be  very  gratefull.

 Hi  Vinod

Here  is  a  very  good  and  detailed  article  on  breeding  Amano  Shrimps,  hope  this  helps.  Amano's  breeding  is  very  rare  and  success  rate  is  also  quite  low.

I  stay  close  to  your  place,  If  you  are  ok  ,  i  will  try  dropping  in  sometime  next  week.  All  the  Best!

You  need  brackish  water  for  the  larvae  to  survive.  Green  brackish  water  to  be  exact.  After  the  larvae  undergo  metamorphosis  after  several  moults  and  start  to  resemble  the  adults  then  you  start  slowly  adding  fresh  water  to  bring  the  salinity  down  and  adapt  them  to  freashwater

After  seeing  the  link  from  seetharam  i  would  prefer  to  buy  it  form  LFS  rather  than  breaking

my  head     Crying or Very sad  on  it  Still  it  s  not  so  costly  that  it  cannot  be  afforded  .

 Regards

 Rahul
