Unni, Gokul and Ramdas,
Thank you. It would indeed be a Honour when the fish is described and named after our Friend, Guide and mentor Trevor. Rahul(retro_gk) is working on it as of now.
Nandy,
Deepak is correct. I will elaborate on the difference between Badis and Dario genus in a short while.
The second species of Badis/Dario from.......
Tunga River, Shimoga district.
The Male.
The Female.
The Biotope....

Nayak is anyone working on the second fish? I remember sending a few samples to Rahul a while back from a similar location but Bhadra river. He said it was Badis badis. Here is a pic of the fish.

Nayak and all others in the venture,
Thanks for such a wonderful thought in naming the species after Trevor! Trevor would have been proud to see the way you guys are carrying the hobby ahead. Do let us know how we can help and take forward his legacy.

Nikhil, am not sure. But he did call our Tunga fish as Badis cf. badis too. This was because Tungabhadra is a tributary of Krishna river, and Badis badis is found in Krishna river basin.

Hello Nayak,
These would be Badis badis also; your specimens fit the taxon perfectly. Very nice to see the habitat.
That new species, subject of this thread, you mentioned it's described soon; how soon is soon? It is, however, not a Dario (tubed lateral scales present versus absent in Dario, among other characteristics).
