 Hi  All,

This  was  supposed  to  be  IAPLC  submission  however  my  other  scape  turned  out  to  be  better  and  was  submitted  to  both  India  and  IAPLC  contest.

Started  in  first  week  of  October  2011.

 specs  -

 Tank  size  -  30x15x15  inches
substrate  -  inert  gravel  &  inert  stones  as  base  layer  for  elevations,  ada  new  amazonia  as  top  layer,  about  10  litres  used.
 lighting  -  36watts  x  2  PLL  for  9  hours
 filteration  -  eheim  2213
 co2  -  pressurized  at  2bps,  ista  2in1  diffuser
flora  -  stauragyne  tropica,  HC  cuba,  Blyxa  Japonica,  unidentified  crypt  (dwarf  hairgrass  was  initially  planted  but  was  removed  later  and  replaced  with  blyxa),  hydrocotyle  tripartita
 fauna  -  cardinal  tetra
dosing  -  after  2  months  dosed  with  aquatic  remedy  macro  &  micro,  k2so4  (to  satisfy  pottassium  requirement  of  Staurogyne  tropica)
water  change  -  first  1  month  approx  30%  every  3  days.
hardscape  -  most  likely  as  per  my  understanding  they  are  laterite  light  weight  rocks.

the  very  first  pic  of  the  setup  below,  will  continue  to  update  the  thread  as  it  had  progressed  till  today.

few  combinations  with  hardscape  that  were  tried,  i  did  not  have  any  picture  of  my  scape  before  i  started,  only  thing  i  wa  sure  of  were  rocks  and  that  i  need  to  make  one  with  these  rocks.

probably  yes,  as  said  i  wanted  to  make  something  using  these  rocks.  i  am  not  very  sure  of  the  name  of  the  rocks  but  i  believe  they  are  laterite  rocks  which  are  surprisingly  light  weight.  they  were  in  my  malawi  tank  which  i  decomissioned  last  year.

below  pic  is  what  i  eventually  finalised  as  the  scape,  there  were  2-3  small  rocks  that  were  added  to  the  foreground  to  give  continuity  and  more  natural  look  however  did  not  take  a  pic  of  it.

 update  on  planting.

I  had  to  travel  after  finalising  the  hardscape  hence  the  planting  was  done  in  second  week  of  November,  on  11th  Nov.

planted  HC  and  glosso  at  forground,  glosso  at  right  background,  dwarf  hair  grass  on  left  background,  traces  of  staurogyne  tropica  at  mid  ground  and  the  unidentified  crypt  from  KL  in  the  center.

First  pic  is  immediately  after  the  planting,  second  and  third  is  after  2  weeks  that  is  on  25th  Nov.  Plants  just  settled  and  starting  showing  some  sign  of  growth.

was  not  happy  with  glosso's  growth  and  overall  look  in  the  scape  hence  removed  it,  replaced  the  foreground  with  HC  and  background  glosso  with  Staurogyne  tropica.

1st  Pic  as  of  1st  March  and  second  is  of  24th  march.  You  can  see  the  staurogyne  is  showing  pottassium  deficiency  (yellowing  of  leaf  and  holes  in  old  leaves)  ,  both  HC  and  hairgrass  were  slow  in  spreading  than  my  expectation,  one  of  the  reason  was  diatoms  which  lasted  for  about  6  weeks...only  solution  is  to  wait  till  they  complete  their  life  and  disappear  automatically.

left  with  BGA  and  green  spot  on  the  glasses....a  bit  of  BBA  on  the  rocks  as  well  (co2  fluctuation  as  the  cylinder  getting  over)

9th  april  -  experienced  a  casualty  of  my  gertrudae's  blue  eye  rainbow  in  the  tank,  they  are  known  to  live  only  for  about  a  year  however  this  fellow  survived  for  almost  2  years.

you  can  see  BBA  on  the  rock,  really  dont  care  about  BBA...i  just  spray  some  hydrogen  peroxide  on  them  when  i  dont  want  to  see  them   Chuckle.

sorry  for  the  messy  pics  so  far  without  proper  background,  light  etc.  i  set  all  this  in  place  when  i  felt  the  tank  has  matured  and  is  complete  as  per  my  expectation.

Pic  of  tank  as  on  9th  April,  removed  hair  grass  and  staurogyne  from  background  and  replaced  with  blyxa.

you  may  notice  few  rhizomes  of  Crepidomanes  auriculatum  in  the  tank,  they  were  temperorary  inhabitants  to  make  sure  i  have  few  rhizomes  safely  growing  of  this  rare  variety  fern  in  one  more  tank   Very Happy

i  also  included  hydrocotyle  tripartita  in  the  scape  after  about  a  week  and  you  can  see  in  the  next  update  which  would  be  the  final  pic.
