| i have a question or doubt about this CHANNA is it a fish called as SHOL in bengali or bengal because i have seen this type of fishes quite often in rivers , or in markets... |

Chengeli is the name in Assam for Channa Assam.
May be Shol is another local name of the breed. |

Lovely Channas. But the substrate is a bit distracting.
Ananth,
All Channas are food fish. For that matter every fish in it's native habitat is a Protein shot for the locals

| Ananth.. all fishes are edible if people can lay their hands on them. In my locality, I have seen people catching small rasboras and ghost shrimps for a Sunday special curry. |
