Congrats on the new phone!
To others:
Whats with encouraging pirated apps?
You got a phone that costs thousands and you hesitate to spend a couple of hundred bucks for the most useful and awesome app out there on Android for playing music.
If you still can't buy the app, try the hundreds of free apps and see what works for you. |

Hi friends thanks for so many useful tips.
Hi Dabbu
Rooting may be helpful in cracking in some softwares but eing myself an ex Samsung Service Manager , I would never suggest anybody to tamper with original software or hardware of any Samsung phone. Reason being , Samsung mobile have different service levels like local repairing at service center or being sent to their central repairing center. In central repairing centre , every phone is thoroughly checked and any mischief is surely caught and warranty is voided by company strictly. Same is in case of water logging cases of mobile too.
Can you pls suggest any good paid media players which offer good volume levels and sound quality. There are so many options on android market that its pretty tough to find good better and best among them ...

Poweramp is something really worth its price.
Warranty on rooted device is historically debatable issue. |

Samsung uses ODIN to flash firmware on the NAND memory of their phones. These stock firmwares are available at www.samfirmware.com which are usually leaked by Samsung themselves so that itchy users can flash them and then give them reviews about the firmwares. Also ODIN is freely available over the internet. Just google for it. In the event of the need for sending back the phone to factory. The easiest way to pass by from service center is to just flash the latest available stock firmware for your region and VIOLA! Your phone looks and feels just like it was the day you brought it. No one can deny warranty then.
As for water logging its a different case altogether in which the for Samsung certain parts of the internals of the phone turns white in color in case of water logging.
Coming back to rooting the major benefit here is not just getting paid apps for free but who wouldn't want a customized phone. Who wouldn't want a customized phone which doesn't have any bloatware and gives users complete control over their CPU/GPU resulting in 25-50% increase in battery output over stock and -40% - +60% decrease/increase over its stock speed. That is the core ideology behind Android. This is not possible on Blackberry or iPhone It's your phone your way. Sorry for the long post though...Let's not make this a debate here. At the end of the day its the user who decides root or stock unrooted. |

Hi Dabbu... Just downloaded paid full version of Power Amp. It plays excellent quality music and controls are good and handy. The volume level of Videos still remains on lower side. Can you pls suggest a good app for videos too where volume is on higher side.

| Dice Player (Paid) The best thing for video. HW acceleration support. Or MX Video Player (Free) but not as good as Dice. Also if you're up for it I can try to reprogram the Dice Player App to work on an unrooted phone (Free) for volume check if voodoo app is supported on your device. Alternatively you can tinker around with the equalizer in power amp. Just slide the preamp upwards till you're satisfied with the volume out. |

I own a Galaxy Note and ust inquired with Samsung.
Rooting definitely voids the warranty unless you're a pro like the dudes on XDA developers and are able to bypass the flash counter.
IMHO: If you are a newbie to hacks...Which I believe you are...stick to the Original ROM and go for a player like Mplayer which is free and has some awesome features found in most paid apps.
By the way my collegue (also a heart surgeon) rooted his phone and bricked it. Now he owns the most expensive paper weight he has ever owned.
There are thousands of excellent free apps out there. |

BTW for all the Note owners, you may know this but Samsung India has released ICS 4.0 update for Notes.
Use Kies to update.
Changes: Not much. IN fact disappointing. They removed the damn cool interface.
Pros: Faster operations and longer battery life. I get nearly 2 days with regular usage (about 6 hours of calls) |

being a android developed, I find ther is no need to root for any reasons.
Though how much ever i pay for the phone im a miser in paying for apps :P
Just download the "4shared" app from the Google Play market.
go through the original market to browse for the perfect app (like PowerAmp)
Go back to the 4shared app, and search for its ".apk" file. ull easily get most of the apps.
Downloaed and enjoy!! |

Rooting is way more than just apps as I've mentioned above.
My two cents being a product tester at Samsung and a contributor at Cyanogen. |

It's the same psychology as how people have a high tech PC, but hardly any of those machines have paid OS, Antivirus, Music, Movies etc.
The only reason games like Call of Duty have paid sales is because it's the only way to play online multiplayer. |
