hi guys
those of you using ISTA MAX MIX reactor with an external pump or the canister outlet itself
i wanted to know how often do u clean the reactor
what are the issues you guys have faced during maintenance
i am running mine with the EHEIM COMPACT pump.
looking for replies before i sit with the maintenance next weekend |

If it Aint Broke Why fix it?
I have opened mine once, I didn't see many areas that would need maintenance. My worry about opening it frequently is that If the O ring that seals the cap gets damaged the reactor will become leaky. I don't plan to open it again unless the spinning rotor gets stuck |

i see some brown colouration of mulm on the inner walls of the ISTA MAX MIX
the rotor seems to be working fine
so i shall just clean up the EHEIM compact pump and have it up and running again |

Buddy no need to clean the reactor until unless the rotor get jam as DRUG said,, no harm with this brown mulm,its a kind of algae 
be careful of that o ring when you open it just before installing put it in hot water  |

ok since majority of the MAX MIX users are recomending no clean up is required untill and unless the motor is jammed
i shall leave it untouched and will just flush it with pressure water to clear up any muck
will clean up the EHEIM pump that runs it and fix it back again
