 Hi  Guys,

I  am  planning  to  buy  a  filter.

Wanter  to  compare  Sun  Sun  HW-302  (1000L/H)  and  Eheim  2217.

I  am  aware  that  2217  is  good  for  spares  etc.  But  Sun  Sun  price  is  unbeatable.

Also  what  about  water  flow,  is  sunsun  flow  rate  good  for  a  50g  planted  tank  ?

 Yes.

Also,  SunSun  is  a  good  bet  if  you  are  not  worried  about  spares  IF  it  breaks  down.  These  filters  do  not  come  with  media,  so  invest  in  a  good  biological  filteration  media.

Yup  I  am  currently  using  a  302  in  my  tank  and  I  would  say  it  is  pretty  good  overall  and  good  VFM.  Just  get  some  coarse  sponge  and  some  ceramic  noodle  &  bio  balls  and  you  should  be  good  to  go

 Hi  Abhishek,

I  am  using  HW  302  in  my  60g  approx  tank  from  last  10  months  or  so  and  its  doing  an  excellent  job.  Its  as  silent  as  eheim  could  be  and  flow  rate  is  good  as  well.

What  media  to  use  is  upto  your  choice  and  preference....i  am  not  using  anything  special  as  the  media  in  my  setup.

by  the  way  i  dont  have  to  mention  the  advantage  of  cost   Very Happy

 hope  it  helps.

 Cheers,
 Binesh

 Thank  You  all,

But  I  have  read  that  the  flow  rate  reduces  a  lot  when  this  is  filled  with  media.

So  any  suggestions  on  the  media  I  chose.
I  am  looking  to  go  for  bio  +  chem  +  mech  media,  in  the  same  order.

off  course  Sun-Sun  is  fine  and  awesome  in  price  and  you  can  get  2  in  the  same  price  of  a  eheim2217  but  can  anyone  tell  me  that  if  the  Sun  sun  302  goes  off  ,the  motor  burns  out  or  any  problem  with  spares  then  what  to  do  ??  I  guess  Seethram  is  absolutely  right  if  you  can  take  the  risk  of  spare  parts  and  defects  then  Sun-Sun,  RS-Electrical,Resun  all  r  fine  and  goes  well.  I  am  staying  in  a  place  where  all  these  stuffs  are  not  available  so  bought  a  Eheim2213   lets  see  how  it  works  Very Happy  But  compared  to  the  product  RS  electricals  or  Resun  then  Sun-Sun  much  is  better   Very Happy

I'm  using  the  same  and  touch  wood  its  doing  a  great  job.  As  Seetharam  pointed,  parts  may  be  difficult  to  get.
