Hi all,
Its been a week since I setup a new 10G tank. I wanted a betta from a long time, and decided now is the time. As of now the only resident of the tank is a small Trumpet snail. I haven't decided on what betta should go in there. I would like an HM or something. Definitely not a Plakat. Also, I ll add my own home made power filter to this tank soon as commercial filters are too powerful for such a small tank. I ll probably add a fish in another 2-3 weeks, after the plants have settled and started growing well. its got 18W of CFL, I can increase to 24W if I feel (or have some money to burn ).
What do you guys think? Good start for first time betta keeper? Am I missing something?
Heres the tank:
I am also wondering what background would look good, black or white? |

| Nice setup. Just add a small bio filter in some corner. |

I am adding my home made power filter in a day or two. More effective and less flow |

Nice good that you are considering 10 gal for a Betta . Most people think Bettas live in a Teacup. |

just keep minimum flow of water. Best is a bio filter with 2 bubbles a sec. And if u r feeding them dry worms then carefully feed him big chunks only or these powdered particles will form bacteria. Which will cause find rot. Best is controlled live worms.
I am telling u this because u have substrate in your tank which is difficult to clean. |

Dear Ashwin
If you intend to get a HM male betta. . .with that tank you shouldn't get any problems as long as bacteria doesn't set in. . . Probably best for the betta if you get a low light. . . if your diy filter has a vertical jet/output or if you can place it in such a position, should do.
Best of luck with the betta.
Regards
