I found this fish specie in a water reservoir atop the fort. They look like some kind of catfish but I'm not sure, please help me Identify them. They were total 5-6 in number.
Along with these there were lots of guppies too.
and this is me at the reservoir/tank.

yes its a cat fish but you can't use for aquarium purpose. It grows very fast.

Ok, I don't have more pics of fish as this was a trek basically and I had carried fish net with me to catch fish if I can on the way so basically I was the only fish enthusiast in the group. These pics were taken by the guy I requested in the group, I don't have camera either |

| is these the one known as african cat fish. If so i beleive they are banned in india. As they pose a threat of depleting all the other fish community if accidently introduced to rivers |

Hi,
I frequently stay in Raigad as I have a house there and these buggers infest the waters there. In fact I have to frequently call local fishermen to get them removed from our well. I remember one at least 3 to 4 feet in length and by the way the locals claim that they are very tasty.
The barbs are very sharp and God bless the soul who gets one of these entangled in a net.
Yes they are definitely a Catfish and in times of low water levels they can even travel across land. (At least this is what I have heard)
Have fun. |
