I have never used rain water so cannot comment on the same.
In my opinion tap water would be sufficient.
If you want to have have complete control over your water, get a RO unit.
However pure RO water should never be used as it has no buffering capacity, so either mix it with Tap water or mix salts to induce some buffering capacity.
I do the same. |

in cities or anywhere second and subsequent rainfalls are much cleaner..it can be used for aquarium.
the idea is that first rain will clean all the suspended particles and we can have clean rains later. |

A "RO" or Reverse Osmosis" unit is a water purification device.
In addition to normal filter candles there is a membrane which allows for very fine filtration .
In addition to normal impurities it removes nearly all dissolved salts form water giving you nearly pure water. |
