Am already staring to like Glosso
Think I'll order a small batch of the below plants and try as well before I decide to stick with one of them...
1. Marsilea Hirsuta
2. Elatine Triandra
Of the below pairs of similar looking plants, which ones would you suggest?
1. E. Tennelus vs. Sagittaria Sp. (Dwarf)
2. Eleo Parvula vs. Lilaeopsis Brasiliensis |

Hi Vaidu,
HC, Lilaeopsis Brasiliensis & Eleo Parvula - All I have done as a carpet plant. They need cool
temp. as well good light and co2.
HC is my all time favourite plant.
Lilaeopsis Brasiliensis - lot of people told me don't go for this one bcz they are very slow growing.
But 2 times I done and within 2 month they spread whole tank.
Parvula also a very nice plant and grow fast.
All these 3 plants like as cool as possible and Co2 (min 3-4 bps)
About ADA - my suggestion is if possible don't mix any other substrate. Use ADA only. It's better.
Please have a look on Internet how Mr, Amano or Mr. Oliver Knott set up tanks with rocks. No need
of thermocol etc.
Just from my small personal experience. |

Thanks Abhis, taken note...
Think I'll pass on the HC for now. Will watch how the emersed HC is doing for the next few weeks and decide.
@Nidhi,
Will go for E. Tennelus and Eleo Parvula then... Have read elsewhere that E. Tennelus is better/fatser than Sagittaria Sp.
Will also get Elatine Triandra as I liked how it looks.
About Marsilea Hirsuta, is it different from Marsilea Minuta?
Images on google look similar.
Have read that Marsilea is pretty easy to grow too... Dunno which one though... |

Simple Idea selecting a plant is their rates..
the costlier it is the more difficult to grow or they are very slow growers.
The cheaper plants are more suitable for you.. so choose some fore ground plants already told in this post..
then lookout for some stem plants and rooted plants.. |

After a loooot of reading online, I've come to the conclusion that for each type of carpet plant, there is at least one person online, who has successfully grown it in low tech setup with minimal maintenance... |

Vaidu.. you are right,
All the plants can be grown successfully in an a low tech tank..
only thing is their growth rate will be reduced and you will always be at war with algae..
you will have better success rates with some plants with High tech setup.. |

Without even knowing why an algae is forming, how can you keep a successful planted tank??? Read in Internet on why an algae is formed. There are many articles in Internet/IAH on algae issues. There are lots of factors which would lead to an algae growth.
So please read it...Read and gain knowledge. |

presence of algae indicates that there is no balance in the system..
either excess / deficiency of any one of Light, nutrients or co2 will lead to uncontrollable algae.
under the above situation the plants will not be at their peak to consume the available resources..
Algae are like scavengers, they will thrive where plants suffer.. |
