 I  am  really  tempted  to  use  readily  available  Ringers  solution  as  a  substitute  for  Micronutrients  in  my  tank.

 It  is  available  very  cheap  in  any  pharmacy  and  is  sold  as  Injections.  Just  break  the  bottle,  fill  it  in  a  syringe  use  as  much  as  Id  like  and  store  in  fridge.

 Also  I  wanted  to  know  why  is  Microsol  B  used  so  frequently.  I  checked  the  MSDS  and  it  says  that  its  only  water  soluble  boron.  What  use  is  that?

 Hi!
       Thats  a  new  find  as  a  micronutrient,  It  contains  sodium  chloride,  potassium  chloride,  calcium  chloride  and  sodium  bicarbonate,  with  the  latter  used  to  balance  the  pH.  But  have  you  been  using  this  on  a  regular  basis?  Would  like  comments  with  this  regard.  We  use  this  in  local  anesthetic  agent.  But  most  anaphylaxsis  in  humans  is  caused  by  this  solution.  Hope  fishes  dont  suffer  from  the  same.

 Regards

 @  Rohseq,

 You  are  referring  to  a  wrong  information.  Microsol  B  is  a  micro  nutrient  fertilizer  from  Vardhaman  fertilizers.  You  can  find  the  information  in  the  below  link.

 http://www.vardhamanfertilizers.net/micronutrient-fertilizers.html

 And  before  using  them,  please  go  through  the  older  threads  in  IAH  related  to  Microsol  B.  There  are  many  posts  relating  to  Microsol  B.

 @Rajdeep_Banik

 3  to  5  is  a  good  ppm  level  for  Magnesium.

 Ramshankar,  we  do  not  welcome  SMS  spelling  and  short  forms  of  words.  We  also  lay  a  lot  of  importance  to  correct  grammer  and  spelling,  though  we  are  lenient  towards  this.
 If  you  don't  have  the  time  not  to  use  SMS  spelling,  stay  off  the  forum.

 You  cannot  use  potassium  permanganate  instead  of  KNO3.  KNO3  is  used  for  the  Nitrate.

 @Rajdeep_Banik

 If  you  use  potassium  permanganate,  you  can  have  the  funeral  of  all  your  fishes  on  the  same  day.

 K2SO4  is  used  as  potassium  supplement.  (Even  though  KH2PO4  and  KNO3  will  provide  potassium)
 KNO3  is  for  nitrates.
 Ca(NO3)2*4(H2O)  (Calsium  Nitrate)  is  an  alternate  nitrate  supplement.  But  KNO3  is  the  ideal  one  for  nitrates.
 MgSO4.7(H2O)  is  the  Magnesium  supplement.  (Do  not  use  potassium  permanganate)

 Regards
 Sujo

 Calcium  Nitrate  -  I  am  not  sure  if  we  can  use  this  as  Calcium  would  increase  the  hardness  of  the  water.  Thereby  changes  the  KH-DH  of  the  water,  which  would  effect  the  nutrients  intake  by  the  plants.

 Experts  please  correct  me  if  I  am  wrong.  Can  we  use  Calcium  Nitrate  instead  of  KNO3.  if  not,  can  we  use  Sodium  Nitrate?

 Sodium  Nitrate,  Calcium  Nitrate,  will  add  useless  sodium  and  calcium  to  the  water.
 Calcium  will  give  you  scale  and  horrible  deposits.  Hardness  is  a  given  !
 Potassium  will  then  have  to  be  added  again  for  the  plants.

 KNO3  gives  both  K  and  N  for  plants,  why  add  unnecessary  elements  and  make  a  pickle  ???

 Laboratory  stores  don  not  sell  KNO3  without  some  kind  of  permit.  They  said  it  can  be  used  for  some  other  purposes!  So,  I  was  searching  for  an  alternative.  Crying or Very sad
