I  have  found  that  all  across  people  use  cultures  to  start  anything
You  Tube  Videos  are  named  "starting  a  culture"  but  no  one  shows  how  to  begin  from  scratch  with  no  culture  in  hand.
Does  any  one  have  a  tutorial  on  how  to  do  this  ?
Please  post  or  provide  a  tutorial
 Thanks

I  haven't  heard  anything  about  starting  the  culture  from  scratch  with  no  starter  culture  till  today.
IME  we  need  a  starter  culture/or  atleast  few  worms  to  start  with.
l  mix  some  water  with  wheat  flour  to  make  a  thin  paste,  heat  that  for  few  minutes  stirring  continuously  so  that  it  doesn't  become  brown  in   the  bottom.  Leave  that  till  it  will  become  luke  warm  then  i  will  add  a  pinch  of  dry  yeast  on  that,  and  will  stir  it  so  as  to  mix  the  yeast  uniformly.  Allow  it  to  retain  room  temperature,  transfer  it  to  a  transperent  plastic  box  then  put  the  starter  culture.  So  the  worms  will  be  ready  to  feed  in  couple  of  days.
another  way  is  put  some  bread  pieces  in  transperent  plastic  box  pour  some  milk  to  completely  moist  the  bread,  then  put  some  starter  culture  on  that.  The  worms  will  be  ready  to  feed  in  couple  of  days.
And  also  put  some  small  pin  holes  to  box  lid  so  as  to  allow  some  air  for  the  worms  to  breathe.  And  take  care  that  ants  or  friut  flies  wont  enter  the  culture.
the  above  mentioned  ways  are  with  starter  culture.  Without  starter  culture  some  gurus  have  answer  since  i  am  a  newbie  to  this.

its  is  near  to  impossible  to  start  MCW  without  a  starter  culture.

even  i  had  tried  it  using  banana  and  all  other  things  which  LFS  ppl  told  me.
then  i  came  to  know  abt  IAH  and  my  4  your  search  for  MCW  finally  got  success

No  way..  You  need  a  starter  culture.  Get  hold  of  someone  who  have  a  running  culture  ...

someone  like  u  must  have  thought  and  took  efforts  to  start  a  culture  without  a  starter  culture.
that  man  must  have  been  a  genius  person.  we  are  not  and  even  cant  spend  all  our  time  on  starting  a  culture  by  ourself.

 Hi  ,

This  is  a  very  nice  topic.   Thumb Up   Guess  what  ,  it  is  claimed  that  you  can  start  a  microworm  culture  without  a  "starter  culture".
Inintially  even  when  I  was  trying  to  figure  out  who  can  provide  me  with  microworms  ,  i  was  googling  and  found  this  link.

 http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20101019033649AAxgqNn.
 http://animal-world.com/encyclo/fresh/information/common_foods.htm#Microworms

I  tried  doing  this,  but  I  did  a  fundamental  mistake  of  adding  a  small  piece  of  chicken  in  the  groove  that  I  had  made.
End  result...I  got  was  a  spoilt  Potato.  Chuckle
I  will  redo  this  again  and  let  you  guys  know,  if  I  was  successful.

How  I  Started  A  Microworm  Culture  From  Scratch  ?

Well  of  course  not  from  scratch  but  I  cracked  this  I  think.
I  realised  that  for  a  life  form  to  begin  you  need  bacteria
Didnt  we  learn  this  in  school  ?

 View  My  Video

Now  I  can  move  this  to  a  bigger  container  with  a  larger  bread  slice

 Any  Comments  ?

This  is  the  first  time  I've  seen  a  culture  personally  and  created  one  by  myself.
It  looks  like  those  posted  on  youtube.
So  an  expert  will  need  to  visit  my  place  to  see  if  its  good.
Today  morning  I  added  this  to  my  tank  by  first  rinsing  in  water  and  straining  it.
 The  guppies  endlers  ate  them.
Since  I  did  not  have  a  ready  larger  container  I  just  added  more  soggy  bread  in  the  culture.
 Lets  see  what  happens.

 Update
After  adding  more  soggy  bread.  Today  the  culture  is  not  smelling  that  awful  but  it  reminded  of  baby  food  Farex.
 See  attached  photo

These  worms  are  small  and  fat  !  So  obviously  not  micro.
So  what  are  these  white  worms  ?
Looks  like  my  rice  turned  alive  Smile
