Just joined this forum today.
Im Jason from bangalore. Was keeping fishes for a long time now but now im getting more interested in the planted aquarium area. I think now im more interested in aquascaping than the fishes.
Just created my first planted aquarium a week back. Im using a DIY co2 setup made with a 2 litre pepsi bottle a bubble counter with a half litre pepsi bottle, (1.5 cups sugar & quarter teaspoon yeast) connected to a check valve and for the diffusser im just inserting it right into the intake of my submerged powerhead filter. Gives me a fine bubble spray.
Here are some pictures for you guys of my freshly planted triangle shaped tank.

Im looking forward to meeting people from Bangalore with the same hobby so that we can discuss ideas and also maybe exchange overgrown or excess plants etc in due time. |

Hi
For the substrate. Right in front of my house my neighbour was digging a sump hole. So i got some really red mud from about 8 feet deep. I just used that as a base, say abt 1.5 inches where the tank is narrow and about 2.5 inches on the back and left side by making the back a lil slope. I did not clean the mud as it becomes like clay.
Then i washed the regular construction sand and capped an inch or more over the red soil. On the left side i also added some gravel taken from the same construction sand. For the lighting i just put a regular plastic covered tubelight of about 2.5 feet.
Not added any fertilizer, not planning to add also as i believe natural is best like the Walstad method. Plants have started growing now, just need to wait and see now. |

You welcome. I still suggest you also add a DIY Co2 system to it. From what ive been reading, you'll enjoy more as plants will be growing faster. |
