Phosphates from the source water is generally very minimal. To bring down phosphates, i would suggest more water changes about 30% weekly, add some GFO (granular ferric oxide), or a branded Po4 Remover (RowaPhos, Phoszorb, etc)
As for the diatom algae, we all get it from time to time.. Its bloom is due to an increase of Nitrates + Silicates + Phosphates in your tank water. Increased silicates from your source water. A RO-DI unit should help with this... |

Get rid of the starfish because in no time he'll start to chew on u r button polyps....Always go for a reef safe starfish if u r gonna have one.
Because i too was fascinated by the color of the red knob starfish and bought him immediately and after three weeks i saw my button polyps were in distress and one day when i was observing the tank at night he started to chew on my green button polyps. |

Hi,
GatorX: Will try that..
Didnt realise that the starfish will cause any harm..as you said, even i was carried away by its beauty.
Can someone help me in getting some hardy corals for my tank?? Really want to start with my reef.

Looking good..... Have you got the cleaner wrasse feeding?
The MP40's are definitely worth it. Expensive, but quality products are seldom cheap. Most people would save a lot of money in the long run if they realized that. You shouldn't have any problems with them, and even if you do, you can pretty much buy every single part separately. Had mine for 3 years now....awesome. |

@Nonza: Thanks...the cleaner wrasse is with me for abt 3 months now and was earlier feeding on fresh shrimps but now has started eating the hikari s pellets. The Mp's are kick A**S
@macster2222: Just survey the market for led lights and you will get an idea.
