|
|
Hi Friends,
I had hair algae issues in my tank and thought of making an Algae Scrubber.
And here are the results.
I was having a half cut PVC pipe so I used it.
A 24 hour light was kept to help the algae growth.
The canister filter input pipe was kept inside the scrubber to make the flow of water.
In one week, I saw the algae in the tank reduced considerably and pvc was getting filled with Algae.
Inspiration is from the post by SantaMonicaHelp
I think these images with explain more about it.

| That's a good amount of algae coming out from the tank. So have you not used any airator to have bubbles flowing inside the pvc chamber? |

Thank Anil and Kaushik.
Almost all the photos you see is taken to show the Algae Scrubber.
There is hair Algae in the scrubber and that is why you feel the water is green.

Hi Shelly,
I didn't use the airator.
I thought it will remove the CO2 from the tank.
And the current flow of water is from top to bottom.
If I use the air pump, the flow will be the opposite direction.
So I thought not to use it.
Hi Jabba,
I kept the mosquito net like this only by considering the easiness of taking it out.
With this shape, I was able to take out the nets and Canister inlet without moving the pvc.
Didn't think much about the shape as I just wanted to fill the pvc with something which can help growing Algae. |
