| These are not something with which you can grow plants. This is only for the illumination of the tank. It cannot grow plants in a planted aquarium. |

this led strip consumes 72 watts... moreover the viewing angle is 120 deg, u will be wasting lot of power illuminating the surrounding not the plants. and i feel it will give out lots of heat also.

| these strips will become dull after a few months and moisture will detriorate its cotton coating also. but if you cover it with a transperant pipe, it will do the job for plants, but it may melt the tube also. It good for decoration only I MO |

You can grow some plants in a 6inch height tank, nothing more than that
Any idea what LEDs are in that ADA luminaire? even they are as small as 5050s |

I was thinking in the sense like: im using only a small tubelight to light up my tank, seems fine too.
when i placed the 5 mtr coil next to the tube it is actually giving me almost double intensity, so if placed next to each other they should technically give more illumination on every corner or the top hood.
still do u guys think it wont workout?
based on the light intensity in the tech specs woud you still think the total "Joules" is not enough?

| Yes the energy level ( "Joules" ) will differ, it will be more than the local lights. but it will go dim. |

You do a rough test if you have a digi cam, using like a light meter. Just for rough estimate.
Cover the LEDs with some translucent screen, keep the cam in lowest aperture and take pics keeping them side by side, one that is brighter in the pic is obvious bright thing.
You're eyes arent light meter, please dont strain them!! |

These days we get indegenous and very economical (About Rs. 70/- per Lamp) bulbs of 30 LEDs found in different colours, I got success in growing the plants using 3 No. Red and 1 No. Blue LED bulb along with one Bright White 50 LED Lamp. it is about 18 Watt on an Aquarium of 88 Liters ( it is suggested to use 0.6-0.8 Watts per gallon with LEDs). Out of these bulbs 1Blue and 1Red bulbs are directing light horizontally and others are directing up side down. It is working and new leaves of plants are better than before when I was using about 60 watts with CFLs and Aquarium Tubes. The problem of Algae is reduced and leaves are greener now.
