|
|
Has anyone transferred ADA AMAZONIA II being used in 1 tank into another tank and faced any issues. I am upgrading from a 3 ft to a 4 ft tank, my ADA is 1.5 yrs old and i want to reuse it.
I know water will be muddy and may leach ammonia for few days, but other than that, is there any issue?

No issues at all
Make sure it is completely dry and then reuse them, there will be usual dirt floaters which will clear gradually.
Also do not squeeze the granules and make it powdery by mishandling them.
Cheers! |

U mean i should first dry out the ADA? I was thinking of just transferring the ADA from current working tank to the 4 feeter. Can't I do that?

@ Yogesh
I have tried the above method and found no issues, but if you want to take the risk of transferring them as it is, please do it and share the results. |

ADA is very soft, if you transfer it wet there is a good chance of a lot of nodules getting crushed and turning to powder.
Take out all water, let it dry for one day in tank, take it out gently and transfer it.
Best is to transfer it completely fry.
Be prepared for lot of water changes in first 2-3 days. |

Well, I have transferred ADA soil while still wet - without any issues.
Just lower the water level as much as possible and use a big container to scoop of the soil.
IMO, the new ADA soil granules do not crumble as easily as amazonia II's |

| I had transferred the ADA soil after it was dry for more than a month!!!. But I see that the granules breaks easily when it was topped with new soil. |

Hi Yogesh,
Using it again is never a problem.
Agree with all the above suggestions, try not to use the old ada as top layer...add in the bottom and top it up with new. this would be less messy.
Thanks,
Binesh |
