 PICS  OF  ROCKS  ADDED  !!!

 Hello  All,
I  got  some  Rocks  which  look  like  coral  rocks  (say  that,  because  of  its  porous  nature),  but  they  are  brown  in  color.  I  washed  them  multipe  time  with  hot  water,  soaked  them  in  hot  water  for  over  a  day,  and  took  a  brush  and  rubbed  all  the  rocks.  Most  of  the  mud  on  the  rocks  has  come  off,  but  not  completely.  Each  time  I  was  it,  it  still  leeches  some  reddish  tinge.  Therefore  I  was  thinking  if,  I  can  actually  make  a  mix  of  cement  paste,  and  dip  these  rocks  inside  them,  so  that  the  RED  LEECHING  STOPS.  Is  it  safe  to  coat  the  rocks  with  cement  ???  And  if  yes,  what  cement  should  I  use?  I  have  read  lot  of  sites  suggesting  PORTLAND  CEMENT,  but  was  wondering  if  this  kind  of  cement  is  available  in  INDIA??

And  if  we  can  use  regular  cement,  how  long  should  the  curing  be  done?  And  is  there  any  specific  process  for  curing  to  be  done???

Kindly  help,  your  ideas  and  suggestions  would  be  highly  appreciated.  I  will  post  the  pictures  of  the  rocks  soon,  as  I  currently  am  in  a  different  location.  Should  be  able  to  post  them  in  a  couple  of  hours.  Suggestions  Please  !!!!

 Thank  You,
 Ram

You  can  use  the  regular  cement  which  is  available  in  the  normal  hardware  stores.  And  almost  all  cements  manufactured  in  India  is  portland  cement  I  guess.

You  can  make  a  thin  paste  of  cement  and  dip  the  rock  in  the  cement  paste.  Once  it  is  dried,  immerse  the  rock  in  a  bucket  of  water.  Change  the  water  for  many  times  so  that  the  cement  cures.  If  you  have  pH  paper  strips,  you  can  check  the  pH  of  the  normal  water  and  then  the  pH  of  the  water  after  you  have  immersed  the  rock  for  one  day.  By  this  you  can  check  if  the  cement  is  cured.

Use  43  grade  cement  and  all  cements  are  Portland  cement.  Less  grade  cement  means  low  heat  low  cracks
