 Hi  Ganesh,

Floating  plants  are  fairly  easy  to  keep.

I  know  about  floating  plants  such  as  amazon  frogbits,  duck  weed  and  even  riccia  which  can  be  easily  kept  without  supplying  CO2  or  very  high  lighting.  Occasional  dosage  of  fertilizers  would  not  hurt.

You  did  not  mention  the  wattage  of  lights.  Please  do  that  along  with  the  exact  dimensions  of  the  tank.  A  50G  tank  could  be  narrow  and  deep  in  which  case  your  lighting  may  be  adequate  but  at  the  same  time  it  could  be  shallow  but  wide  and  long  which  might  demand  more  lighting!

I  am  not  sure  if  sharks  can  be  kept  in  planted  tank(even  with  floating  plants)..Just  have  never  seen  them  in  such  setups.

One  thing  to  be  taken  care  of  in  floating  plant  setup  is  that  you  provide  ample  aeration  or  else  you  might  loose  your  fishes.

Hope  that  gives  you  some  pointers!

 Good  luck.
 Ashish

 Hi  Ganesh,

You  do  not  need  anything  special  for  floating  plants  and  they  usually  look  good  in  Open  Top  Aquariums  or  ponds.  For  top  covered  aquariums,  all  you  will  be  seeing  are  floating  roots.

Also,  keep  in  mind  that  these  plants  will  quickly  take  over  your  tank  and  cut-off  significant  light  from  the  top.

 Regards,

 Sanjay
