There is nothing in the water, its just the personalities....
You will not find a better set of friends, mentors and guides any where else. The will to share....plants, fish and more importantly knowledge is essential. Every one is busy in life, but when people care to share their valuable time on Sundays, it keeps the spirits up. Even on a rainy day we had a good turn up at the ASK meetings.
This is something aquarists in other cities must replicate... |

Speaking from my personal experience. These guys have a heart of gold. Not to mention they pursue this hobby as hobby and not as a side profession as opposed to guys around the country who would want to sell even the cuttings from the most commonly available plants also expect profits from second hand sale.
I still remember how Surya invited me over to his place and offered me lunch. That was one moment I can never ever forget in my entire life. I'd tears in my eyes because the place where I was put up in my brief stay in Bangalore was worse. Even worse because it was my first time away from home and didn't know anyone over there. It was then Surya who realized this entire thing without me having to speak even a single word and him along with his brothers made me feel like his place was a home away from home. So happy to have met him there. Not to mention even the store at Indira Nagar and MG Road both the guys they came leaving their shop open and unattended just to make sure I get to their store without any hassle something you'd never ever find anybody doing in Mumbai.
Then is the weather part. Beautiful as is their people. I feel very sad that I couldn't meet anybody on my second visit to BLR and if given a chance I'd always at any day want to relocate to BLR for the things it gave me in just a week's time... |

Agree with Sujo. Bangalore has too much water shortage problem though. I actually buy water for my tanks. Damn!
In my opinion few great things about Bangalore for hobbyist are >>Lots of LFS whose owners are also hobbyist + >> people like Adip sir of ADA who stays in bangalore and can inspire anybody anytime + people like Madan and Nayak (sorry if i missed some one) who are the backbone of bangalore IAH and yes offcourse the regular ASK meets of cubbon park and not to forget amazing weather though this year my tank temp has raised to 31degree for couple of weeks! |

Since I am in the civil and interior contracting field and our major it clients are from Bangalore. Out of Maharashtra I had visited Bangalore maximum time than any other place. Yes it is true that people are great here not only aquarist but people from other fields also.
People are referring weather and water with reference to Mumbai. |
