Let the pictures speak
Currently the water will overflow the pot and fall into the pond
I might change mind an add another tank flange on top for water to exit and fall into pond.
Pot – Rs. 140
Media Rs 200
– 10 Plastic Scrubbers
- 48 lil green scrubbers
- 3plastic brushes
Plumbing – Rs. 900 (Did not use much of it – maybe project II)
PVC MSeal tube – 25
MSeal - 10
Have filled it with the green pond water to start the process.
Still searching for a Pump with good HMax rating to send the water to the Potfilter and start the cycling |

Layer 1 > 10 Plastic Scrubbers
Layer 2 > 3 Plastic Brushes
Layer 3 > 48 lil Green scrubbers
Sorry the total for the Media came to Rs. 250 not Rs. 200.. missed the 10 plastic Scrubbers
Hopefully it gets infested in 2-3 weeks and pond gets clearer.
Right now visibility is 4-5 inches. |

Instead use a tight lid plastic container. |

@ Shashank Colorful to attact the bacteria. Just kidding. Just wanted something with huge surface area for the buggest to latch on to.
Does not matter what color. Am hoping it all turns Green in a month.
@ Nope does not float off. Did a bit of testing before going for this mix of materials.
Here it is next to the pond filled with pond water.
Forgot to mention - used a pot as I want it to blend a bit in the garden.
Someone please help me source a pump locally with a good Hmax rating?
Can anyone tell me where this Varsha LFS is? |

Bio Filters are not recommended to be closed. Preferably open.
It needs certain amount of sunlight for a healthy environment. |

Buy one of the "Sharp" pumps from SP road and try out, they will work out pretty cheap. The best bio filter is loads of potted stem / rossette plants in the pond, they'll take care of
all your waste. In fact bio filters with plants are used in fish farms to conserve water. The pond will look good also.
Don't go and buy a whole lot of plants, buy a few stem varieties and pot them. they'll grow pretty quick, prune and repot.
People make a mistake of using Lillies and Lotus only in ponds, they help only upto a point.
Use the pump for circulation and filteration. |

Nope it wont as the water overflows into the pond. If we are away for 2+ days and if any larva forms it will flow into pond and be eaten by the naughty fishies. I am not against closing it. I see its more beneficial to have it open.
@ Govind - I am on Lloyd Rd just off carleston st - 60 sec walk. Please pm me his id/emailid/Ph # . I Hope he has a spare pump he is looking to sell
@ Madan - Thanks for your inputs. Looks like I will be heading to SP to buy a "Sharp" pumps from SP road
Yes next step/ area of research is plants. Will add potted stem / rossette plants to the list. Lillies and Lotus are so cliched that you can bet I will not put them for free. |
