 Here  is  an  update  with  pics  that  I  took  on  Day  4  (Wednesday).

 3  with  fungus-  all  pontederiifolia.  The  explants  seemed  nice  and  green  even  when  fungus  started  appearing  (see  pics  below),  whereas  the  others  (lucens  and  willisii)  have  started  turning  brown  and  a  couple  of  bubble-like  bumps  have  appeared-  could  that  be  the  callus?  No  signs  of  fungus  or  bacterial  contamination  in  these.  One  of  the  pontederiifolia  also  has  some  black  growth  which  I  assume  is  bacterial  contamination.  I  did  notice  a  clear  liquid-  more  so  in  the  pontederiifolia  bottles-  not  sure  what  this  is  and  if  it  aided  the  growth  of  the  fungus.

 Apologies  for  the  quality  of  pics,  but  as  Nayak  said,  there  is  also  some  media  on  the  sides  of  the  glass  which  hampers  visibility.

 Will  post  updated  pics  tomorrow  or  day  after.  I  think  I  can  safely  open  one  of  fungus  ridden  bottles  since  it  has  pretty  much  taken  over  the  media-  will  post  a  snap.

 The  setup

 Pontederiifolia  with  fungus

 Bacterial  contamination  (black  lump)?

 Lucens-  callus  forming  or  just  dying?

 This  is  an  extermely  interesting  thread.  I  would  like  to  do  all  of  this  but  1  at  a  time  and  with  exact  procedure  laid  down  for  homely  experiment.  I  can  do  it  if  every  minute  step  is  projected  in  laymans  language.

 @Ashwin

 The  last  two  pics  seem  very  interesting.  May  be  some  kind  of  differentiation  and  division  happening.  As  Madan  said,  keeping  it  over  time  will  answer  the  question.
 The  black  lump  may  also  be  fungi  as  they  come  in  varied  colors  (though  white  is  a  commoner)

 The  Black  lump  might  be  a  fungus  as  they  can  have  black  colored  spores.  And  the  white  cottony  growth  is  of  a  fungus  too.  But  can't  make  it  from  the  last  two  pictures  whether  there  are  callus  growth  or  they  are  dying.  Sometimes  there  may  be  water  droplets  on  your  explants,  but  can't  make  it  from  the  picture,  anyways,  keep  them  for  1-2  weeks,  if  the  bubble  grows  bigger,  then  it  is  a  callus.  As  I  have  said,  a  callus  will  be  unorganised  mass  of  cells  may  be  white  creamy  black  colored  and  amorphous.
 One  suggestion,  please  wire  a  mask  and  hand  gloves  while  opening  and  using  any  contaminated  media  as  there  may  be  pathogenic  fungus  and  you  can  inhale  some  of  their  spores  without  knowing  and  that  can  cause  severe  problems.
 Thanks.

 Any  development  Rasik  bhai?  Smile,  I  am  realy  excited  to  do  this  experiment  here  atleast  once.  Just  last  2weeks  ago  I  bought  a  seed  package  from  horticulture  shop.  Its  instructions  read  plant  will  germinate  6  weeks,  to  my  astonishment,  more  that  20  seeds  germinated  in  just  six  days.  Your  experiment  procedure  took  whole  day  I  suppose.  So  1  sunday  I  can  try  once.
