hii friends,
yesterday i scooped some sand from a lake nearby..
can i use it as foreground ..can i put it on top of the fertilizer..
suggestions please..  |

river sand is one of the best to use in a tank IMO. But do make sure - you boil the sand in water to kill all parasitic an' bio-degradeable waste. Then dry it under the sun or heat on an oven to remove all moisture. Please be careful while handling it, it will be super hot. Yes if you are using a DIY substrate then it can be used as the top layer but make sure the layer is thick otherwise ferts will leach in the water column creating a nightmare of an' algae issue! |

With a thick layer of river sand would u not hv compaction issues ? |

i have around 10 kgs of sand..how thick can i provide in a 2 ft tank.. |

i read that post earlier..bt anyways thanks for the safety measures..
and i want to lay this sand on the top of fertilizer just to hold the roots of the plant and also to cover the fertilizer.. |
