 Hi  All,

After  a  pause  started  with  a  new  scape  last  week,  details  to  follow  soon   Very Happy

The  background  is  a  shaby  temporary  thermocol,  will  be  experimenting  with  the  background  and  the  colors  as  the  scape  matures.....during  the  progress  will  remain  with  a  white  background  as  it  helps  seeing  the  growth  of  plants  as  the  tank  &  scape  matures.  I  would  leave  the  tank  dimension  a  guess  work  for  a  day   Very Happy

 Specs  of  the  tank  -

 Size  -  18x14x14  inch
 Light  -  36watt  x1  Philips  6500k  PLL  light,  with  a  commercial  reflector
Substrate  -  around  14  litres  of  Amazonia  used.
Hardscape  -  Light  weight  laterite  rocks  from  my  old  setup,  link  -  http://indianaquariumhobbyist.com/community/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=29974
driftwood  -  not  sure  of  the  type/name.
Flora  -  UG  will  be  grown  in  the  center  stream,  giving  an  impression  that  after  the  stream  dried  UG  had  grown  and  taken  over,  background  will  have  eleocharis  acicularis  (long  hair  grass),  a  scarce  growth  will  be  allowed  instead  of  dense  to  make  sure  tree  trunk  outlines  are  visible  against  the  background,  foreground  will  be  a  mix  of  eleocharis  parvula  (dwarf  hairgrass),  Japanese  hairgrass,  gloassostigma  diandrum.
Fauna  -  Not  yet  given  a  thought  about  it   Very Happy,  given  the  relatively  small  tank  i  may  not  have  much  choice  left.
Filteration  -  Eheim  2213  with  Eheim  media,  interestingly  2213  worked  pretty  well  in  my  old  scape  in  30  inch  tank  (did  not  feel  underpowered)  and  working  pretty  well  in  this  scape  as  well  (not  overpowering).
 CO2  -  presurrized  with  ISTA's  diffuser.

 Cheers,
 Binesh

Edited  the  initial  post  to  include  the  specification  and  details  of  the  scape.

Few  trial  scapes  to  understand  the  character  of  rocks  and  wood   Very Happy  of  course  the  wood  pieces  were  the  main  hardsscape  material  and  rocks  were  used  to  complement  it  and  the  scape.

sorry  for  the  below  average  pics  as  these  were  trial  scapes.

Good  one  Binesh.  This  style  has  been  the  feature  in  recent  few  years  aquascaping  contests.  High  time  someone  tried  it  here.  Is  the  substrate  enough  to  hold  the  wood  in  place?

There  you  go,  almost  the  final  scape  with  a  little  japanese  hair  grass  planted  in  it,  Sourcing  UG  got  delayed  than  i  planned  it,  diandrum  should  also  be  coming  next  week.

At  present  i  have  also  planted  acicularis  at  the  background,  will  take  some  pics  when  everything  is  planted  sometime  next  week  and  will  post.

also  the  last  rock  on  the  right  hand  side  is  looking  a  little  out  of  place,  primarily  because  i  have  tied  mini  fissidens  on  it  using  mosquito  mesh,  hopefully  once  it  is  removed  the  texture  and  color  would  match  the  other  rocks.

 Cheers,
 Binesh

 Hi  Rahul,

Very  true!!  personally  i  liked  the  scapes  depicting  forest  and  canyans...so  thought  of  trying  something  which  is  a  combination  of  both,  fortunately  got  hold  of  these  driftwoods  and  that  was  it  :)

Now  will  have  to  wait  &   see  if  the  plants  complement  what  i  am  visualizing  or  not,  thats  the  most  challenging  part.   Smile

regarding  the  amount  of  substrate  -  those  were  trial  scapes,  do  look  at  the  final  scape  pic  and  the  substrate  depth,  at  the  back  substrate  height  is  almost  7  inches     Smile

 Thanks  Satya!!

You  saw  the  final  scape  if  i  am  not  wrong.

very  well  executed  binesh  kudos!  but  one  small  critique  from  my  end  -  the  pathway  is  bit  too  straight..can  you  by  any  chance  alter  it  by  a  slight  bit?

You  have  taken  very  appropriate  kind  of  wood  for  the  scape.   Thumb Up

I  am  not  really  content  with  the  path,  its  almost  at  the  dead  center  and  too  straight.

And  you'll  need  a  lot  more  plants  soon,  algae  issues  in  such  intricate  scapes  will  be  a  nightmare.  Or  maybe  start  the  tank  dry  till  you  get  hold  of  all  the  plants.
