Yes,I have kept a pair of black mollies in a circular glass tank in my table for a month.that's where I first thought of an aquarium,I have read two books about aquarium. The internet is very helpful. I found this forum as I needed the opinions from those who have handful experience.

I am not adding salt to the tank, but I need your opinion about keeping salt at a very low amount in the tank,to prevent diseases.
I am planting banana plant and the swords, the LFS sells this species only. There is no popularity for planted tanks in the district.
I am setting up a CO2 setup,I am looking for good ideas to mix the gas with water,I am considering an Idea of sprinkling water in a media of CO2 and collecting the water back to the tank.
I have a low budget, so I am looking for low cost lighting options. I am thinking about a mesh of 150 ordinary white LEDs,But I am not sure they will provide enough lighting( and not a big blunder),the internet is also empty with this subject. Please make your comments.
Yes,I will do a cycle. Please give me tips on that.

There is no need to go in for costly branded substrate.
You can use normal construction sand, sieve it first with 3 mm sieve, throw out larger particles, sieve the balance with 1 mm sieve( I used kitchen flour sieve) throw out finer particles. Now you have substrate which has particle size between 2-3 mm, which is perfect for planed tank.
Livebearers like molly, guppy, swordtails etc. are perfect for new tank.
Fill the tanks with whatever plants you can get, cover about 80% of surface area.
You can use normal CFL bulbs for lighting, aim at about 1-1.5 per gallon.

new to IAH,but very old in this hobby
whts your tank size...its all need fine balance between light co2 and fish that your keeping
normally river greval is great as they r rich in iron,u dnt hve to use fertilizer tab afterwards
if your setting up diy co2 reactor then u can use glass bubbler in syastem
dnt use air pump,as it will disturb water colum and all co2 will be lost
light should nt be exess or it will lead to green soups
start wth 6-7 hour of light, then slowoly increase period to suit your tank
swords are great and hardy keep trimming the surface leaves if any
remember nt to add any fertilizer chemical as it will stress your fish

You need to do the following for better response in this forum
1. first start a new thread as this one is old and belongs to someone else.
2. Update your location in your profile
3. To know how to start up your tank go through the links that Sandeep has shared
4. In your question in the new thread also do include if you are planning for a planted tank or not
Welcome and Enjoy your stay at IAH
One quick answer to your question is that dont go for the chinese made set up as there are lot of issues like below
1. the stand get worn out when water touches it during water changes
2. electrical short circuit from filter on long run
3. You will not get the spare parts and even if you get it it will be expensive and low quality
4. They cannot be used as such for planted tanks
5. They are expensive and I feel not really worth for that difference
I have one from RS electrical and I faced all these
