Planning  to  rescaping  one  of  my  tanks  a  24x12x12  inches  with  a  30  watt  low  light  setup  with  no  CO2.

Filteration  will  be  a  small  HOB.

 Plant  list  :

 1.  microsorum  pteropus  dwarf
 2.microsorum  pteropus  narrow
 3.bolbitis  heudelotii
 4.subwassertang

My  question  is  would  bolbitis  heudelotii  survive  in  hard  water  with  a  ph  of  around  7.5  -  8?

Will  post  pics  of  the  hard  scape  later  in  the  day.

Good  one..  but  not  sure  with  HOB.

I  would  suggest  canister  with  good  flow  to  avoid  algae  growth

As  of  now  it  will  be  that  HOB  only.  But  if  required  will  upgrade  to  canister  later  on.  My  main  concern  is  would  these  plants  be  ok  in  hard  water.

Hi  you  will  need  good  water  flow  for  ferns  to  grow  well,  you  could  add  a  small  powehead  with  your  hob.  The  water  needs  to  be  25-26  degrees.  If  you  can  get  a  canister  nothing  like  it.  Liquid  co2  like  sechem  or  API  has  a  new  product  at  half  the  price  of  sechem  available  with  aquaastar  chennai  will  go  a  long  way.  I  have  a  fern  only  tank  for  almost  2.5  years  now  and  have  always  used  soft  water  dont  know  how  they  do  in  hard  water.  All  the  best

How  about  adding  peat  to  the  substrate  and  in  the  filter  to  bring  down  the  PH.  temp  won't  be  an  issue  in  the  winters,  its  gonna  be  a  prob  after  April.  Will  be  shifting  the  tank  to  an  AC  room  by  then.

bolbitis  heudelotii  must  need  good  water  flow  just  like  any  other  plant  need  good  lights  Or  just  like  a  hill  stream  loach  need  good  water  flow
So  go  get  a  power  head.  No  other  way  This  is  from  my  personal  experiance

Got  the  point,  as  of  now  the  outflow  from  the  hob  is  directly  hitting  the  Heudeloti,  will  be  adding  another  source  of  water  movement  soon.

Plan  on  changing  the  left  side  Lava  rock,  with  stones  like  in  the  right  side.  Wondering  should  it  be  almost  smilar  height  or  a  bit  higher  with  multilpe  rocks  there  like  a  landslide  pic.

IF  this  is  going  to  be  a  fern  only  tank,  i  am  going  to  be  delighted.  Good  choice  in  ferns!  Even  the  Subwassertang  is  a  fern,  contrary  to  what  most  hobbyists  think!  Great  research,  Abhi.
