 Hi  All,

I  was  reading  about  anubias  and  got  little  confused  from  the  information  at  some  places.
 Below  are  my  questions

 1.  Is  there  any  anubia  that  need  to  be   planted  in  the  substrate. If  yes  what  all  are  they
I  got  this  question  from  the  below  link
 http://www.aquahobby.com/garden/e_afzelii.php

 2.  Is  there  any  difference  between  Anubia  Afzelli  angustifolia  and   A.  barteri  var.  angustifolia. If  yes  how  can  we  distinguish  them
I  got  this  question  from  the  below  link  where  they  are  written  separately
 http://toptropicals.com/html/toptropicals/articles/aqua/anubias_en.htm.

 3.  Can  any  one  give  me  a  picture  of  anubia  minima  and  lancelota  .I  have  got  them  both  but  need  to  confirm  to  see  if  I  am  not  confused  Very Happy

 4.  Is  the  list  for  anubias  in  the  below  link  the  only  stable  ones  available.  I  know  there  are  many  other  unstable  ones  like  marble  and  stardust.  In  the  stable  ones  the  only  other  one  I  know  is  anubia  nana  gold  and  round  leaf

Guess  what  I  was  open  mouthed  to  see  the  first  one...growing  in  the  substrate.
When  I  did  a  detailed  research...I  found  out  thaat  ,  roots  can  be  submerged  in  substrate  but  not  the  rhizomes
I  have  a  couple  of  varieties  with  me  ,  will  experiment  and  let  you  know  if  I  come  up  good.

I  have  been  growing  anubias  all  along  where  rhizomes  are  above  the  substrate  but  the  roots  are  in  the  substrate!  did  the  same  in  new  scape.  Gives  better  foliage  atleast  to  my  eyes.  Hope  this  confirmation  helps.

 I  too  have  a  query...

Why  do  the  leave  of  Anubias  shrink??  I  mean,  when  I  get  the  plant  from  LFS,  the  leaves  are  about  2  inches  wide  &  about  3  inches  tall..  But  the  leaves  which  grows  afterwords  in  my  tank  is  about  half  the  size  (both  the  width  as  well  as  the  height)..

What  am  I  supposed  to  do  to  increase  the  size  of  the  leaves?

I  have  the  same  issue  with  all  the  rhizomes  I've  bought..  (around  6-7)
 Regards,
 ABHILASH

 Abhilash,

 The  answer  is  simple....
In  the  anubia  nurseries  they  are  grown  emersed  to  get  faster  rate  of  growth  and  this  leads  to  bigger  leaves.
When  you  submerge  it  the  new  leaves  will  get  adapted  to  the  submerged  growth  and  thus  the  new  leaves  are  smaller
