I  am  going  to  the  LFS  next  week  expecting  the  curing  to  complete  by  then.
Need  to  get  some  real  L@R  piece  and  some  real  live  sand  to  seed  my  existing  setup.
Along  with  that,  planning  to  get  some  cleaup  crew.  What  would  be  my  best  bet?  Seen  some  hermit  crabs,  but  read  somewhere  that  they  are  detrimental  towards  reef  as  they  start  eating  all  the  small  hitch  hikers  in  it.  Snails/shrimps  are  the  other  option.  Not  sure  if  I  can  get  them  though.
Cheato  -  Will  see  if  I  can  get  them  in  some  store.  Anyone  knows  any  store  in  Chennai  selling  them?

Well  i  dont  know  what  you  are  doing,  but  i  have  cured  my  LR  in  the  main  tank...  just  keep  them  in  the  tank  with  water,  add  pumps  for  flow,  change  50%  water  after  a  month,  check  the  water  parameters  and  then  start  with  a  hardy  fish  like  chromis...  buy  a  good  salt  like  redsea

Were  there  any  hitch  hikers(live  organisms)  on  the  L@R  when  they  were  cured?  Any  picture  would  be  appreciated..
My  plan  was  to  add  the  cleanup  crew  before  adding  any  live  fish.

Wow.  Ammonia  tests  0ppm,  Nitrite  0ppm  and  Nitrate  somewhere  close  to  80ppm.  Guess  the  bacteria  in  the  live  rock  have  started  to  work......   The  glass  drilling  guy  didn't  turn  up  even  after  a  month  and  so  decided  to  try  it  myself.  Brought  a  glass  bit  and  attached  to  my  dad's  drilling  machine.  Perfect....  It  drilled  like  a  charm.  Never  thought  it  would  be  that  easy.  So  did  the  overflow  box  +  durso  standpipe  today  and  waiting  for  tomorrow  to  add  the  sand....

Brought  plywood,  sun  mica  for  constructing  the  new  door  for  my  aquarium.  It  used  to  be  an  open  stand.

 My  glass  drilling  bit

My  overflow  glass  chamber,  painted  black  with  durso  standpipe  inside.

What  is  the  best  way  of  cleaning  glass?  I  have  tried  glass  cleaner  but  it  doesn't  remove  the  calcium  and  lime  stains.
My  tank  is  now  empty  and  so  can  try  anything  till  i  fill  with  water.
 Will  acid  do  the  work?

The  L@R  are  all  shifted  to  the  sump  now.  So  the  main  tank  is  ready  for  maintenance.  Had  to  drill  the  holes  in  the  tank  and  so  shifted  all  the  L@R  to  the  sump..

Yep.  I  was  using  a  razor  all  these  days.  But  looks  like  the  razor  is  removing  the  polished  layer  from  the  glass(I  know  they  do  not  polish  glass  but  might  be  the  exposed  crystalline  structure  is  getting  damaged).  Not  evident  when  its  wet,  but  easily  noticeable  when  that  part  is  dry.

Quick  update  -  Added  aquarium  sand,  a  KG  of  live  sand  and  changed  the  entire  water.  Setup  the  sump  and  its  working  perfect.  Only  problem  -  the  water  looks  very  hazy.  Being  from  the  freshwater  side,  it  looks  a  bit  odd  to  me.  Does  the  water  clear  in  a  few  days?  Mine's  so  clouded  that  I  can  barely  see  the  back  side. The  water  was  crystal  clear  untill  I  added  the  salt.  How  long  do  I  wait  before  adding  fish  to  this  tank(  The  L@R  are  cured  and  ammonia  /  nitrite  read  0).  Did  a  test  today  morning  after  the  100%  WC  yesterday  night.  Ammonia  was  close  to  0,  but  nitrite  showed  a  slight  increase(0.25ppm).  Do  I  wait  till  the  water  clears,  even  if  the  other  parameters(NH3,  NO2-)  are  zero?
My  hydrometer  says  1.021.  Will  be  a  week  untill  I  get  fresh  salt.  Is  it  OK  for  the  L@R  to  be  in  a  lower  specific  gravity?
Also,  the  LFS  was  mentioning  something  about  a  probiotic  powder  whch  would  be  very  usefull.  Somethink  like  a  amminia  feeding  bacteria.  Anyone  has  ideas???
