 Hi  guys

With  the  recent  power  crunch  in  Kerala  comes  the  attendant  threat  of  increased  power  tariff.  I  seriously  need  to  cut  down  on  my  tank's  power  consumption.  Currently  I  am  running  216Watts  PLL  and  a  70Watts  MH.  At  eight  hours  a  day  the  power  bill  is  pretty  stiff

Does  anyone  have  any  experience  in  buying  and  using  commercially  available  LED  fittings  for  planted  tanks?  Any  pointers  -  Brands,  shops,  prices,  wattage  etc  etc  will  be  appreciated

While  I  appreciate  the  DIY  people  out  there  I  am  not  a  DIY  kind  of  guy,  have  neither  the  aptitude  nor  the  time  Sad

You  can  buy  10W  LED  Flood  lights  which  you  can  get  in  3xx  and  they  give  very  good  lighting.  I  am  using  6  of  them  on  my  3  Feet  Marine  Tank  and  it  is  looking  real  wonderful.

 Folks,
Have  been  in  the  LED  mfg  area  for  a  while  now.  For  a  marine  setup  what  is  requred  is  a  colour  temperature  of  20,000  K.  Using  6000K  units  will  not  help.

Yes  Shiv,  just  to  clarify,  out  of  6  10W  LED  Flood  lights  which  I  have,  3  of  them  are  white  (which  I  assume  is  6000K)  and  the  other  3  of  them  are  blue  (should  be  around  14000K)

And  the  lights  which  you  have  specified  is  for  reef  and  not  for  FOWLR

The  LED  floodlights  are  only  about  as  efficient  as  a  T5  light  of  equal  wattage

Aquasky  is  meant  for  a  tank  height  of  12".  I  am  not  sure  if  they  do  well  for  a  tank  depth  more  than  12".

As  Shelly  has  already  told,  they  are  meant  for  small  (nano)  tanks..  For  bigger  tanks  ADA  uses  T5  and  Metal  halide  combo  lighting  systems.
