Cheap  &  best  method  I  followed  was  to  use  an  airstone  and  allow  the  co2  coming  out  of  airstone  to  be  sucked  into  a  small   filter  impeller  to  further  diffuse  it  into  the  water.

That's  a  good  method.   But  an  even  better  solution  is  ISTA  CO2  diffuser.   I  manage  my  67  gal  on  a  1.25ltr  DIY  bottle  with  a  medium  diffuser.   Works  best  for  me.   However  you  cannot  connect  this  to  your  canister  filter  outside  the  tank  as  the  pressure  in  DIY  system  may  not  be  sufficient  enough.   My  filter  is  1000LPH.   The  diffuser  works  fine  inside  the  tank  though.

ISTA  Co2  Diffuser  to  get  it  start  working  ,  it  needs  a  good  amount  of  pressure  to  be  generated  and  I  think  much  better  to  be  used  with  a  pressurized  setup  compared  to  Yeast  generated  CO2  ,  also  that  pressure  increases  the  chance  of  leaking  the  CO2  in  a  DIY  setup  IMHO

^^agree  I'm  also  wondering  how  mistryde  manage  to  build  pressure  from  DIY  CO2,  I  seen  people  having  initial  success  &  then  choking  issues.  Good  luck  !!

I  diffuse  DIY  CO2  with  Cigar  filters(thanks  to  Omkar...Local  Hobbyist)  &  manage  to  get  very  fine  bubbles.  Filter  flow  does  the  rest  of  distributing  them.

A  bell  type  diffuser  is  also  good  for  DIY  co2  generators  or  something  like  this  can  also  be  made.

I  have  been  using  ISTA  for  5  months  now  without  ever  choking  it.   I  didn't  get  any  success  initially  as  the  pressure  was  less.   But  I  increased  the  yeast  qty.  in  the  bottle  and  sucess  !  OK  the  mixture  lasts  for  a  week,  but  that's  ok  for  me.   It's  still  a  lot  cheaper  than  a  pressurized  system.   I  used  to  run  into  issues  of  unstable  CO2  supply.   But  now  I  use  2  bottles  of  2.25  ltrs  and  use  60%  yeast.   I  change  one  bottle  per  week  and  have  a  steady  supply  of  CO2   Thumb Up

There  are  tons  of  ways  to  diffuse  DIY  CO2.  But,  to  conclude  which  one  is  good  for  you,  do  a  Co2  check  on  your  tank.  That  is  going  to  tell  exactly  which  version  is  effective.

I  would  recommend  buying  a  cheap  internal  pump/filter,  use  the  impellor  and  sponge  to  diffuse  CO2  super  fine  bubbles.  In  fact  there  are  several  ways  to  do  this.  Just  do  a  google  you  can  find  it.

I  will  not  recommend  using  canister  inline  for  any  CO2  version,  that  is  going  to  slowly  do  a  damage.

Using  a  bell  type  reactor  using  diverted  flow  from  a  powerhead  as  Ruchit  mentioned  is  ideal  in  my  opinion.
There  is  near  zero  loss  of  bubbles  since  the  water  flow  keeps  the  co2  in  the  bell  for  dissolution.
It  worked  great  even  for  pressurized  co2  and  is  dirt  cheap  to  make.
