+1  with  Deepak  -  When  I  got  my  assassin's,  out  of  4  only  1  was  active.  All  the  other  3  lay  there  as  if  dead  for  few  days.  But  as  the  shell  was  not  empty,  I  did  not  remove  them.  I  could  even  see  green  slimy  thing  growing  on  their  shells..I  am  not  sure  but  I  assume  its  some  kind  of  algae..  After  few  days  I  could  see  that  they  had  moved  from  their  original  position  but  again  they  lay  motionless  at  their  new  locations.  They  displayed  this  behaviour  for  some  time.

But  guess  what,  today  all  of  them  are  super  active  and  are  happily  mating   Clapping  .....  there  are  assassin  eggs  all  over  my  tank.

I  am  no  expert  on  their  behaviour  but  from  my  experience  I  will  advice  you  to  not  give  up  hope.

P.S.  -  I  do  not  see  too  many  baby  assassins  in  my  tank  but  yesterday  I  spotted  two  of  them   Cheering   But  as  suggested  by  few  fellow  IAH'ians,  I  guess  there  are  lots  of  them  under  the  substrate.  So  if  there  actually  are  too  many  baby  assassins  in  my  tank,  I  may  give  some  of  them  away  once  they  grow  a  bit.  So  watch  out  for  this  space  for  updates   Smile

Hey  I  read  each  and  every  comment.  First  of  all,  thanks  for  sharing  your  bit  of  experience...

My  snail  hasn't  moved  yet.  Like  I  mentioned,  it's  empty,  I  can't  see  anything  inside...Other  3  snails  are  superrrrrrr  active...though  I  haven't  found  them  attacking  any  pond  snails  yet  Surprised

I  can  wait  as  long  as  it  takes  but  my  concern  is  the  tank  water.  No  way,  I  would  like  to  contaminate  the  water...so  what  do  I  do?

@Nayak-Well  assassins  aren't  like  others  but  they  do  stay  shut  for  1-5  days.  I've  seen  it  happen  with  three  different  hobbyists  but  I  wish  I  knew  why.

@  Deepak  What  do  you  mean?  Can't  I  confirm?  When  did  I  ever  say  that  I'm  very  sure  of  it  being  dead...I  don't  know  if  empty  =  dead....  Surprised   Shocked
