Respect  my  previous  "Crown  Tail  Betta  spawn"  topic

I  lost  all  fries  after  a  three  days.

 Below  are  days  event  happened

Sunday:  Evening  I  saw  the  male  placing  all  fries  to  the  bubbles

Monday:  Same  condition  as  it  was  on  Sunday,  visited  prabhu's  house  and  collected  worm,  put  little  wine  worm  into  the  tank

 Tuesday:
Morning  I  can  see  few  fries  (as  it  is  common  not  all  fries  will  be  alive  for  more  than  two  days)
Night:  I  separated  the  parents,  searched  for  friens  and   not  find  single  one  Sad.

Pls  do  let  me  know  when  to  separate  parents  from  the  tank?
 Do  fries  need  Light?

it  will  be  helpful  if  complete  details  provided.

 Okay..for  Next  time.

 1)  Take  out  the  female  immidiatly  out  of  tank  as  soon  as  she  lay  all  the  eggs.
Or..  as  soon  as  spawning  is  done.  (  I  mean  take  her  out  immidiatly  after  the  spawning  dance  is  over).
feed  her  good  food  and  water  should  be  stored,  clean  and  use  Almond  leaf  for  water  conditioning.
And  keep  her  away  from  male  betta's  sight.  do  not  keep  any  betta  (male  or  female)  tank  near  the  spawning  tank.

 2)  Take  out  the  male  as  soon  as  the  eggs  are  hatched.  that  will  we  a  one  and  half  day  later.

 3)  after  removing  the  male  betta  water  height  should  be  not  more  then  3  inches.  (  very  important  ).

 4)  Will  tell  you  about  water  change  later.

 follow  this.

You  should  be  removing  the  female  once  the  eggs  are  laid.

The  male  should  be  there  taking  care  of  the  eggs  and  fries.

The  fries  should  not  be  fed  earlier  than  4th  day.  My  wine  worm  culture  crashed  and  the  babies  were  too  small  for  micro-worms  so  tried  feeding  crushed  egg  yolk.  That  took  care  of  the  babies  for  two  more  days.  And  after  that  micro-worms.  And  my  fries  are  17  days  old  now.  Few  deaths  about  2  -  5  per  day  i  could  see.  But  still  then  i  have  more  than  100  of  them  slurping  on  micro-worms.

minimum  one  and  half  feet  length.  one  feet  H  and  b.

Add  silk  plants  or  any  other  soft  plants  in  one  corner   for  the  female  to  hide.
One  more  thing..  Do  not  disturb  the  nest  while  removing  the  male.  and  fourth  day  when  the  frys  are  free  moving  you  can  destroy  the  remaining  nest.

Aquariums  would  not  be  better  choice  as  the  temperature  keeps  fluctuating(Glass  heats  up  fast  and  cools  down  fast).  But  buckets  or  plastic  tubs  are  good.

Now  since  you  know  how  it  works,  i  would  suggest  you  try  that.  I  am  raising  my  fries  in  20  liter  plastic  bucket  and  they  are  just  doing  fine.

Sorry  for  hijacking  your  comment  Deepak  (did  not  have  any  intention  of  doing  it).

@indianbetta:   20  liter  plastic  bucket  -  what  is  the  water  quantity?
@Deepak  andindianbetta:  It  should  be  a  fresh  water  or  can  I  use  the  same  water  where  fries  got  birth?

No  problem.  Smile  you  are  right  about  the  plastic  bucket.  Very Happy  but  should  be  bought  new  and  cleaned  with  salt  before  adding  the  frys.

I  know  a  lot  of  farm  breeders  do  this..  But  why?

yeah..  since  they  are  labirinth  ..  The  new  born  need  to  swim  up  every  time  to  take  breath.
other  normal  circumstances  ..  breeders  keep  five  inches  of  water.  But  since  we  are  removing  papa  betta  on  second  day..  I  assume  the  frys  are  weak.  It  will  take  less  effort  for  frys  to  go  up  to  breath.  Smile
since  papa  betta  is  eating  frys  ..we  have  to  remove  him  early.
