On  my  visit  to  the  chemical  shop  to  purchase  wide  range  pH  paper  i  happen  to  also  purchase  a  TDS  meter  from  hanna.  Smile  (  Yes  you  can  say  i  was  carried  away  )

 The  instruction  manual  says

Quote:

 •  The  value  on  the  display  has  to  be  multiplied  by  a  factor  of  10  for  DiST1  &  DiST3  and  by  a  factor  of  100  for  DiST2  &  DiST4  (as  shown  on  the  upper  left  corner  of  the  LCD)  to  give  direct  reading  in  ppm  or  µS/cm.

The  TDS  meter  I  have  seen  before  do  not  have  any  such  thing  and  the  post  that  I  read  here  also  show  the  real  reading.  all  the  water  I  tested  at  my  home  have  a  2  digit  reading  (  which  i  know  is  not  possible  )  It  will  make  sense  when  it  is  multiplied  by  10.

 The  outer  casing  says

Quote:

 TDS  meter  with  ATC
 TDS  1

 Range:  10-1999ppm
 Resolution:  10ppm
 Accuracy  :  +_  2%  F.S.

Has  anyone  used  such  a  TDS  meter  ?

I  use  DiST1  TDS  meter  from  Hanna.

This  gives  me  the  direct  reading  of  tds.

 The  manual  says  the  following:

 DiST  1:  1999  ppm  /  1  ppm
 DiST  2:  10.00  ppt  /  0.01  ppt
 DiST  3:  1999  µS/cm  /  1µS/cm
 DiST  4:  19.99  mS/cm  /  0.01  mS/cm

When  I  switch  ON  the  meter,  it  shows  three  digits.

When  I  switch  on  my  TDS  meter  it  shows  me  2  digits,  and  a  10  written  on  the  top  left  corner.

Then  it  has  to  be  multiplied  by  10  factor.

Which  series  of  TDS  meter  did  you  buy?

 DiST  1,  2,  3  or  4?

I  think  it  should  be  DiST  1....

On  the  package  it's  written  only  DiST.

The  display  is  upto  2  digits  and  when  reading  goes  above  this  value  ,  a  small  icon  showing  10  starts  flashing  on  the  display.
Then  you  multiply  reading  by  10.
