I  don't  know  about  long  term  memory  in  fish  but  they  sure  run  and  hide  from  the  net!  And  though  I  don't  have  to  resort  to  a  mask  or  anything  they  sure  seem  to  come  to  the  glass  every  time  they  see  a  fat  man  in  an  old  banyaan  stand  in  front!

As  for  sixth  sense  we  should  all  look  for  common.  ROFL

navneethtk  :  Goldfish  have  a  memory-span  of  at  least  three  months  and  can  distinguish  between  different  shapes,  colors  and  sounds  and  can  even  tell  the  time.
Research  by  the  School  of  Psychology  at  the  University  of  Plymouth  in  2003.  Goldfish  were  trained  to  push  a  lever  to  earn  a  food  reward;  when  the  lever  was  fixed  to  work  only  for  an  hour  a  day,  the  fish  soon  learned  to  activate  it  at  the  correct  time.

Chuckle  I  had  seen  a  small  video  on  You  Tube,  1  china  man  was  giving  instructions  and  the  goldfishes  were  moving  in  the  tank  as  per  directions  given  by  his  hand.

Infact  rummy  nose  tetras  will  continuously  look  at  you  as  if  staring  at  you.  Mollies  will  stare  at  you  and  if  you  move  you  finger  from  left  to  right  in  front  of  them  daily  a  few  months  later  they  will  also  move  from  left  to  right.  Chuckle

But  these  tank  breeded  fishes  are  very  moody  also.  The  Jungly  fishes  (wild  caught)  like  dianos  and  tin  foil  Barbs  are  crazy  swimmers.  They  swim  so  fast  they  bang  their  face  at  the  tank  glass

You  have  a  strange  way  to  identify  Men  out  of  Boys  it  seems....

Please  do  understand  when  somebody  is  pointing  the  right  direction.
If  fishes  could  easily  identify  people  then  all  the  fishes  would  have  Hid  in  the  tank  when  it  see's  a  Kid  in  front(Kids  generally  hit  on  the  glass  to  frighten  the  fish).....  Its  all  about  who  brings  the  food.  Give  the  fish  food  to  a  total  stranger  and  ask  him  to  feed  your  fish.  They  will  not  stop  and  wait  for  your  permission.

I  know  Sharks  have  great  senses..
Echolocation(  Sonar)  and  electromagnetic  senses.  To  find  their  pray,  communicate  and  navigate.
Nerve  sharks  hammerheads  are  masters.  Great  whites  can  smell  a  drop  of  blood  from  miles  away.
Dolphins  are  fish  but  the  use  sonar  to  detect  hiding  pray.  They  know  exactly!!!!  when  and  where  to  go  for  food  in  any  time  of  the  year.  Thats  their  survival  instint.  Smile
And  I  believe  the  animals  have  stronger  senses  then  we  humans  have.
