|
|
While through a book titled "NAtural Aquariums"recently I came upon a good & simple tank for angelfish.
Tank size is 36x18x18.
Three sides, Right, left & back will be densely planted with Vallsernia in a inverted U shape. the foreground is planted with drawf echinodorous species.
The elegance of this tank with just two type of plants & angels is breathtaking.
I have already planted Vals in half of the tank, I ran out of vals, waiting for vals in my outdoor nursury to grow up.
I am not able to get drawf echinodorous, can somebody help with getting these plants or any other similar looking plants.
This will have only angels.
Line diagaram is as folows
Dark green area is vals and green spots in front are echinodorous.
Sorry for the picture, paintbrush is not my cup of tea
Suggestions & ideas welcome |

Sridhar,
They are available a plenty in all the LFS here. You might get it in Palghat too. I guess, they receive plants from www.sreepadma.com
Sreepadma also ships plansts to places. A friend of mine here buy plants regularly through them, they ship it by courier. Guess one day shipping (for Bangalore )is not a problem. Their prices are also not so high.
Out of Topic: Sreepadma also ship P. Denisonii |

Sandeep! It looks interesting....
but you have to keep pruning the Vallisneria because it may out grow and cross the borders you have planned very quickly...
Hope you are ready for that.... |

Is there a easy way of marking lines in the tank.
Maintaining the shape would be easier. |

I have seen people using acrylic to set the border.... but that wouldn't set the border of vallineria though... since it comes out through the sand....
May be you should have done this first... added a border, add sand separately into the border and out of the border... not sure though if this would work..... |

Use some suitable material (flat rocks,/pottery bits? ) to form the shape in the gravel -sort of a divider for the sections - the same way you would do it if you were setting up terraces in the tank.

Getting a plastic strip (measurement ruler) as of the height of the sand, bending it with heat as required and putting that as the boundary might help.
just a crazy idea, That might as well work.

You may mark a temporary border by inserting a thin plastic inchtape all around giving it a desired shape plant the desired flora and then once they start thriving you may take out the temporary border....I think this should work well..... |
