 Hi  IAH  members

I  am  checking  in  the  market  for   Dual  guage  Co2  Regulator  with  solenoid  value  for  my  30Gallon  Planted  aquarium.  I  just  want  to  know  the  reliable  brands  for  co2  regulator,  because  its  one  of  the  important  component  in  terms  of  safety.

Please  suggest  me  the  good  brand  ,  I  saw  water  plant  (ISTA)  Co2  controller   in  LFS,  any  review  on  this  brand,  how  reliable  is  this?

          Please  help  on  this.

In  general,  ISTA  is  a  good  brand,  and  funnily  enough  they  price  their  products  very  high.  Infact,  some  of  their  products  are  quoted  as  more  expensive  than  ADA!

Price  notwithstanding,  their  products  are  pretty  good.  But  any  brand  of  products  that  sells  CO2  equipment  specially  for  planted  aquaria  is  generally  very  expensive.  If  you  don't  mind  spending  that  kind  of  cash,  you  can  go  ahead.  Otherwise,  buy  equipment  that  is  made  for  general  usage  (industrial,  welding  etc).  Of  course,  for  this  you'll  have  to  do  some  searching.  Ask  fellow  aquarists  in  Bangalore  for  aid  &  you'll  get  plenty.  If  you  don't  already  know,  there  is  a  meet  that  happens  every  SUnday  at  11am  at  Cubbon  park,  where  aquarists  get  together  for  fishy  talk.  Go  there  &  you'll  get  all  the  assistance  you'll  ever  need.

A  major  favorite  amongst  aquarists  is  'Yamato'  brand  of  regulator.  This  brand  is  supposed  to  be  quite  reliable  as  also  being  quite  inexpensive.  There  are  numerous  brands  &  types  of  regulators.  For  detailed  reading,  search  this  forum.

Do  not  go  in  for  Yamato  Regulators,  Lot  of  complaints  in  the  ones  that  are  being  sold  recently.  If  Budget  Permits  go  for  ESAB,  But  that  combo  will  cost  more  than  the  ISTA,  So  a  good  option  would  be  to  go  in  for  ISTA  Regulator.

 Hi,

I  have  been  using  water  plant  (ISTA)  Co2  controller  with  built  in  solenoid  which  is  connected  to  a  splitter  with  needle  valves  (controllers)  for  2  tanks  of  mine.  It  may  look  to  be  a  tad  expensive  but  saves  you  all  the  hassle  and  provides  with  precision  in  delivery,  dependability  and  due  to  the  integrated  nature  is  much  safer  and  provides  a  neat  look  to  the  whole  setup.

My  take,  you  can  go  for  it.  Let  me  know  if  you  need  any  information  on  the  setup.

Rest:  As  you  are  in  Bangalore,  you  should  certainly  visit  the  Cubbon  park  (In  the  Govt.  Aquarium)  meet  on  Sunday  as  you  will  really  get  plenty  of  advice  and  practical  approaches  towards  accomplishing  your  goal.

 Thanks,

 Sanjoy

Thanks  sanjoy  for  detailed  information,  just  one  question  how  about  the  spare  availablity  for  ISTA  product.  suppose  Solenoid  or  needle  valves  failure,  will  we  get  the  spare  from  LFS  or  need  to  throw  and  buy  new  one

sorry  if  question  is  wrong,  this  system  is  very  new  to  me.
