I'm  planning  to  add  a  bubble  tip  or  carpet  anemone  in  my  3  and  a  half  month  old  tank.  Dimensions:  3(L)x  2(h)x  1(W)  running  a  Weipro  2012  skimmer  with  20kgs  of  live  rock  and  10kg  each  of  crushed  coral  and  oolite  sand  in  the  DT  and  a  newly  setup  refugium  for  filteration.  For  the  lighting  I'm  currently  using  VHO  flourosent  tubes(2)  each  of  45  watts.

I  have  added  6  turbo  and  4  nerite  snails  and  two  clarkii  clowns  in  the  past  week.  All  doing  well.  for  about  a  month  now  with  all  the  water  parameters  stable.

So  is  it  ok  to  add  bubble  tip  anemone  into  my  display  tank,  the  thing  is  I  want  to  opt  for  bubble  tip  because  they  are  hardier  than  others  and  they  can  be  placed  on  live  rock  as  well.  The  only  thing  I  fear  is  if  it  starts  to  move  can  it  sting  my  yellow  polyps.

 Regards,
 Vishnu

Animones  for  some  unknown  reason  dont  last  in  captivity!  The  longest  I  have  known  is  for  abour  2  yrs.
 The  thrive  on  the  following:

 Lights  for  abput  11  hrs
 prawn  Feeding  once  a  week
 Salinity  .026
 Temperature  26  Deg
Not  to  mention  the  other  No2  and  No3  parameters.

I  am  not  discouraging  u  from  keeping  one  but  dont  have  great  expectations  from  it.

Also  since  u  mentioned  placning  them  on  rocks,  I  am  sure  u  know  they  move  as  n  how  they  want.  Make  sure  u  have  lot  of  water  flow  and  no  open  power  heads  for  them  to  get  stuck  in.

 Best  of  luck!

Thanks  for  the  reply  and  although  I  know  it  is  really  difficult  to  keep  them  going  even  for  experienced  aquarists,  i  hope  I  can  keep  them  for  as  long  as  I  can.

I  have  done  my  research  on  this  and  whatever  be  the  case  I  definitely  want  to  try  it  out  for  myself  considering  it  as  a  challenge.
All  my  water  parameters  and  light  wattage  are  alright  as  I  checked.  Only  thing  that  worries  me  is  that  it's  feeding  as  there  are  many  opinions  from  different  people  about  this  some  say  you  have  to  feed  it  only  once  a  week  while  some  say  everyday.  Although  feeding  prawns  every  week  is  alright  but  can  I  feed  it  pellets  as  well,  if  I  want  to,  hopefully  my  clowns  will  host  the  new  anemone  successfully  so  half  of  my  worries  will  be  taken  care  of.  Although  I  know  that  isn't  just  all.

 Regards,
 Vishnu

IF  your  clown  feed  the  animone  then  nothing  like  it  as  he  is  the  best  judge!  Smile

I  guess  you  are  right  about  that,  still  waiting  a  bit  before  adding  the  anemone.  Also  I'm  seeing  copepods(hopefully)  or  some  simillar  kind  of  white  bugs  all  over  my  tank  glass  and  live  rocks.  I  guess  nature  too  is  by  my  side  helping  me  with  it.

 Vishnu

bubble  tips  are  the  hardiest  and  last  really  well  in  captivity...  carpets  are  not  at  all  hardy,  tehy  are  sold  cheap  and  so  people  think  they  are  beginners,  as  they  are  available  locally......  its  sad  LFS  sell  them  like  this....  anemones  can  last  for  100z  of  years  if  kept  in  the  best  way  possible......
