corn husk in 50% boiled sterile water+ 50% planted aquarium's water should provide you with a good culture of your own.For the first week water would be soupy and when its clear you will have plenty of them swimming around. And believe it or not this was the hobbyist's top secret for several years. |

yes it is and I want every hobbyist to try it out so that no one would have to keep searching and wait for the cultures to feed their tiniest fish fries.

Husk (or hull) in botany is the outer shell or coating of a seed. It often refers to the leafy outer covering of an ear of maize (corn) as it grows on the plant. Literally, a husk or hull includes the protective outer covering of a seed, fruit or vegetable. It can also refer to the exuvia of bugs or small animals left behind after moulting.
what i got from wiki
i searched in google for corn husk
fresh pieces its not available in kerala markets .
a similar experiment doing with paddy hay here since long time
i do kike this
in 1 KG GLASS HORLICKS BOTTLE add few( a hand full cuttings of paddy hay (which is well washed= chance of pesticide in it ) and add 500 ml aprox boiled water next morning adding water from surface of natural pond (a film coating there if we tool at early morning)
3 or 4 days later we feed this water itself to the new born bettas.with dripper
but still me on the same boat
searching paramesium..

Might be a good idea to check with your local University's zoology section.
They might have cultures running. Of course they also use hay as a medium.
I believe there was a similar thread on IAH earlier.

dry works well for me.and the whole process I've posted. And I don't feed water to my tiniest fish fries but the loads of small creatures with every drop of water from the jar.Wish I had a micro lens to take pictures of them.Make sure you put the water from a planted tank where the plant materials are decaying naturally and not those tiptop crystal clear planted tanks.Siphon out some of the decaying plant leaves from the tank. |

paramecium is only one of the organisms in "infusoria".
To get a pure paramecium culture you would need to seed it with a lab culture.
It would be of academic interest only though since nearly all the tiny organisms in an infusoria soup are good for fry.
