 Nice.  Thumb Up

 few  questions  though.

How  do  you  propose  to  work  in  your  sump?
From  the  images  it  does  not  seem  like  there  is  any  space  to  maneouvre  under  the  stand.

I  see  that  you  did  not  opt  for  clear  glass.  Pity.  It  would  be  awesome  for  viewing  in  this  large  tank.

One  more  point.  Did  you  calculate  the  overflow  rate.  The  chamber  seems  a  little  small  forthis  size  of  tank.

 Regards,
 Venkat

4  iron  bars  at  the  front  are  removable  --screwed
only  the  middle  one  and  the  ones  at   the  corners  are  welded

the  overflow  chamber  is  around  13"  x  13"
the  drain  is  2"  and  the  return  is  1.5"

the  drain  size  is  sufficient  for  upto  4  times  the  turnover  -  around  2400  g/hr

Awesome  tank  ,  siddhu.   Clapping  What's  the  iron  bracing  on  the  glass  edges?  From  the  picture  it  does'nt  look  like  it  is  trying  to  hold  the  glass.  Never  seen  that  before.Just  curious....

Is  that  a  marine  tank  or  a  freshwater  tank,  you  are  plannig?  The  sump  which  looks  so  small  in  the  picture  is  really  larger  than  my  display  tank(4ft)  Sad

plumbing  work  done.  test  filled.  water  circulating  since  2  days.  everything  looks  fine   Smile

planning  for  a  refugium  in  the  sump  with  good  substrate  and  lots  of  live  plants
2  chambers  holding  about  50  gallons  of  water  together

 my  plan  -

 1.  any  opinions,  experience  or  advice  regarding  this  ?

 2.  what  substrate  to  use  ?  2  inch  thick  enough  ?  can  i  use  branded  substrate  like  jbl  etc  ?

 3.  what  lighting  to  use  ?  im  thinking  to  use  regular   4  foot  fluorescent  lights.  they  need  to  be  running  24/7  ,  so  need  to  keep  electricity  consumption  low

almost  everyone  who  run  a  refugium  advise  to  keep  the  lights  on  24/7.
does  no  harm  to  the  plants.  and  is  supposed  to  prevent  the  algae  going  into  sexual  cycle  and  multiplying  and  spreading  to  the  main  tank.

many  who  run  a  refugium  report  nitrate  levels  of  0  ppm  and  no  algae  in  the  main  tank

Ok.  But  since  you  are  planning  to  have  plants  and  substrate  in  Refugium(  I  assume  thats  for  ensuring  supply  of  oxygenated  water  to  main  tank).  24/7  lights  will  lead  to  algae  growth.
