I  am  surprised  to  hear  that,  Deepak.  I  have  only  known  you  to  go  out  of  your  way  to  promote  the  fish  keeping  hobby.  You  have  shared  food  cultures  across  cities,  and  arranged  for  them,  made  and  taken  calls  from  total  strangers  who  wanted  help  and  given  it,  messages,  personal  visits...  what  not.  That  is  one  reason  (among  many  others)  I  value  your  friendship  and  kindness  so  much.  The  proof  is  all  over  this  website  for  anyone  who  cares  to  open  and  check!

Take  me,  my  help  has  been  limited  to  NCR  mostly,  and  I  am  supposed  to  give  mini  tubifex  culuture  to  dear  Neil  Thirumuttam  since  last  August.  He  sent  me  as  many  as  5  lilys  by  courier  in  exchange,  but  after  falling  ill  and  losing  all  my  cultrues,  I  am  just  not  able  to  get  the  mini  tubifex  going  again  despite  many  attempts.

The  people  who  think  otherwise  about  you  need  to  take  a  look  in  IAH,  if  they  really  care  to  know  facts.  IAH  is  in  debt  of  people  like  you,  as  is  the  whole  hobby.   Rock On

Youre  lucky  Romi

In  June  at  Aquatica  Pune  the  beer  worms  we  sent  for  Neil  at  Kerala  are  still  with  Rahul  and  Neil  has  yet  to  pick  them  up  from  Cochin  or  it  would  have  reached  you  in  that  lillies  courier

I  am  lucky,  but  only  in  my  friends   Smile

I  am  actually  glad  that  they  are  still  with  Rahul  because  due  to  weird  unknown  issues  with  my  minitubifex  culture,  and  the  bout  of  dengue  that  I  got  that  cleaned  all  my  old  cultures  out,  I  have  not  been  able  to  send  a  cocopeat  minitubifex  culture  to  Neil  Thirumuttam.  Even  after  4  months  or  so  of  getting  lilies  from  him.   Surprised

I  would  have  felt  even  guiltier  than  I  feel  now.

Thanks  to  the  vinegar  eels  getting  delayed  to  this  time,  I  got  the  opportunity  to  meet  Harsh  Makker,  a  really  dedicated  young  hobbyist.  Deepak  Ganguly  zindabad  :And  you  and  Chetan  too   Smile

 Thanks  to  dear  Pio  too..

Ok,  it  has  been  around  two  weeks  since  I  put  half  the  vinegar  eels  in  kombucha  tea.  And  today,  I  was  happy  to  see  that  there  were  as  many  vinegar  eels  in  the  kombucha  tea  as  there  were  in  the  apple  cider  vinegar  with  the  apple  slices   Very Happy

So  the  experiment  is  a  success  Cheer

I  do  not  have  to  buy  beer  (being  a  nondrinker)   or  apple  cider  vinegar  (American  Garden  brand  is  over  200  bucks  with  shipping  for  a  bottle),  I  just  make  an  extra  cup  of  kombucha  tea  for  the  eels  in  a  week,  and  use  the  eels  to  feed  my  surface  dwelling  fish  fry  like  the  Clown  Killifish  we  have  got  recently  in  Delhi.

If  any  IAH  feels  he  wants  to  keep  a  kombucha  mushroom  (which  can  lie  unused  for  over  a  month  with  no  major  ill  effect)  for  his  vinegar  eels  is  free  to  contact  me.

Hope  to  get  some  pics  also,  as  soon  as  I  find  my  camera,  of  eels  thriving  not  only  in  the  tea  water  but  also  in  the  kombucha  mushroom  shown  in  the  first  page.

 cheers!

The  vinegar  eels  in  Kombucha  tea  have  been  harvested  in  January  and  have  done  very  well  indeed.  I  plan  to  offer  kombucha  mushroom  to  anyone  who  wants  vinegar  eels  or  beer  worms  (same  worm,  same  species),  so  that  they  do  not  have  to  use  beer  or  coffee  or  apple  cider  vinegar  (all  of  which  come  with  a  price).
