 Hi  Srinidhi,

I  too  faced  this  problem.  after  adding  airline  to  internal  filter  it  was  ok  but  not  fully  solved.  then  my  internal  filter  stopped  working.  when  i  went  to  lfs  to  buy  a  new  one  i  saw  a  internal  filter  with  spray  bar.  i  took  it  for  having  a  moderate  current  in  my  tank,  the  old  one  was  too  strong  and  all  the  plants  will  bend  in  the  direction  of  the  flow.
The  spray  bar  distributed  the  flow  and  the  current  was  moderate  and  since  there  was  good  surface  disturbance  the  film  disappeared.
If  I  keep  the  spray  bar  few  millimeter  below  water  then  next  day  film  will  form  in  the  places  where  the  water  surface  is  not  agitated.  if  I  keep  it  just  above  the  water  level  it  will  create  lots  of  ripples  and  will  keep  the  film  away.

so  I  think  surface  agitation  is  one  good  solution  for  this  problem.  but  how  we  achieve  is  the  question.  if  we  have  external  filter  we  can  try  something  like  Lilly  pipe.

Devarajan  And  Andrew..  Thanks  for  sharing  your  thoughts  and  experiences.
I  had  this  DIY  surface  skimmer  for  over  a  month,  it  started  to  build  up  as  soon  as  I  removed  it.  The  surface  agitation  is  pretty  good  with  2  power  head  in  the  tank,  I  used  to  daily  remove  the  scum  manually  and  do  water  changes...  still  the  it  doesn't  seems  to  be  coming  down.  I  suspect  that  some  of  the  rocks  are  leaching  some  sort  of  mineral  in  the  water  to  promote  this  scum..  hence  I  had  to  take  this  decision..

This  is  the  status  of  the  tank..  sorry  for  the  crappy  image,  Will  upload  better  ones  this  weekend.
I  had  to  deal  with  BBA  issue,  Marsilea  was  over  run  by  E.Tennulus..
Broke  the  CO2  glass  diffuser  last  week  while  cleaning,  now  the  front  Internal  filter  has  the  job  of  diffuser  as  well..  Very Happy

instead  of  the  ventury  and  diffuser,  why  dont  you  use  the  flow  pipe?   (I  have  it  with  sun  sun  filter)

raise  the  filter  to  the  top  corner  with  the  pipe  nozzles  direction  towards  the  water  surface  (upwards).

the  pipe  should  be  placed  facing  horizontally  across  the  tank,  nozzles  upwards.

So  when  water  flows  through  the  pipe  and  comes  out  of  the  nozzles  to  form  a   water-fountain.  this  will  circulate  the  water   in  round  action.

place  the  co2  pipe  on  the  opposite  end  and  then  use  a  broom  stick  to  release  bubbles  to  the  top.

the  water  from  the  pipe  will  slowly  stir  the  bubbles  around  releasing  co2  inside.

Percy..  I  don't  have  a  Canister,  I  had  the  diffuser  at  the  opposite  side  of  the  flow  from  the  internal  filter.
But,  guess  what..  breaking  of  diffuser  is  a  blessing  in  disguise..  I  am  getting  more  diffusion  out  of  this  than  the  diffuser.
And,  so  I  have  decided  not  to  buy  another  diffuser..   Drinking  Money  saved  from  every  angle..

I  have  the  same  filter  like  yours,  but  it  has  a  few  more  attachments  provided  with  it.  Thumb Up

Yes,  I  remember  you  telling  me.  One  question-  How  will  flow  affect  BBA.  Will  higher  flow  mean  lesser  BBA?
