Hi, I have done for two days. normally kept it with newspaper covering so that the inside is dark. Add some plants in the water so that they feel secure.
I have carried mostly cherry shrimps. Hope this helps |

Hi, I used regular shipping covers (long ones), mostly around a dozen. |

Take a bottle or a container of 1 ltr. Put some mosses. Pour water of around 1/3 of the bottle. accommodate your shrimps in that. No Problem. |

Hi Nishanta,
First of all, use a larger size bag instead of regular size bag for packing shrimps. Instead of putting some moss or the stems of plants, use the plastic thread or plastic gauze in the bag for making sitting arrangement for the shrimps. These are the waste threads coming out of plastic gunny bags.
In the situation where there is no light, any living plant will also start utilizing the O2 from the water, depleting the O2 level faster. These plastic strands will prevent such loss of Oxygen.
Moreover, fill 40% of bag volume by water and rest by STRICTLY OXYGEN.
Cover the outer portion of bag with paper to keep the surroundings for shrimps dark, preventing them from getting hyperactive.
Secondly, when you reach your destination, ensure smooth transfer from then bag to the quarantine tank. Acclimatize them in the bag itself by adding drop by drop the fresh water and then transfer only shrimps to the tank.
Don't put on light for a day after shrimps are introduced in tank.
Lastly, if possible, after you pack the shrimps in bag, get a box of that size. Line the box from inside using a thermocol sheet and put the bag inside this lined box. Fill in some ice cubes in 2-3 separate bags. Tie the openings of these ice cube bags and place them around the shrimps bag. Use crumbles of news paper for filling the rest of the space in the box. Close box and tape it from top.
All this will require some more efforts but it will ensure that your shrimps are safe.
Do share your experience and result after transportation. |
