Hey  guys  I  am  new  to  this  planted  tank  hobby.
 here  are  my  specs
 tank  -  24x12x18  lbh
 substrate  -  laterite
 Diy  co2
 Internal  power  filter.
 2x  36w  pll  6500k.
plants  are  sagitarias,  marsilea  hirsuta,  bacopa  monneiri,  ammania  bonsai,  rotala  nanjenshan  and  rotundifolia,  limnophila  aromitaca,  ludwigia  palustris,  hugrophila  corymbuse  and  compacta  ,hydrocotyle  tripartitta  and  star  grass
I  am  bit  concern  about  ferts,  I  got  macro  but  not  micro.
 Should  I  order  seachem  excel?
DO  i  need  to  order  seachem  iron  as  well?
 Please  guide  me  on  ferts.
my  rotala  nanjenshan  are  getting  rotat  the  bottom,  its  just  stem  at  the  bottom  and  top  part  is  ok.  please  help  me  in  my  query.

Click  some  photos  of  the  whole  set  up  including  lights..  and  post.
For  your  micros  try  to  source  Plantex  CSM-B,  it  has  enough  Iron  in  it.
Extra  Iron  is  not  needed  as  you  are  using  laterie.
Instead  of  Excel  you  can  go  for  Gluteraldehyde,
Use  this  site  for  all  your  calculations..  http://rota.la/

Why  are  these  star  grass  melting?
Should  I  remove  them  or  should  I  let  it  stay  there?
Will  there  be  a  new  growth?

 Saif,
Star  grass  is  a  very  fragile  plant,  any  damages  or  delay  in  transit  can  easily  kill  them.  may  be  they  are  still  adapting  to  your  tank.  They  need  good  lighting  and  CO2,  make  sure  you  proved  it  and  they  will  recover.

 HI  saif,

If  you  have  diy  co2  then  don't  dose  excel,  and  you  can  contact  sujo  for  plantex  csm+b  for  micro  below  is  the  link

 http://aqua4sale.blogspot.in/2013/11/plantex-csmb.html

If  he  doesn't  have  stock  then  go  for  seachem  flourish  and  you  don't  require  extra  iron,  if  it's  a  new  setup  start  with  less  photo  period  for  your  plants  to  settle  in  then  increase  your  lighting  period  thats  the  secret  in  planted  tanks  and  star  grass  mainly  requires  magnesium  and  calcium  if  your  water  column  has  enough  then  it  will  grow  really  crazy  in  any  condition,  i  have  in  my  tank  every  week  i  do  trimming  if  i  left  it  for  2  weeks  it  will  cover  most  of  the  tank.  below  is  my  star  grass

the  above  FTS  is  a  month  old

6500k  is  cheap  and  available  easily,  the  8000k  will  look  cool.  But  very  difficult  (read  as  impossible)  to  source.
There  is  nothing  in  brand  name,  If  it  says  Glytaraldehyde..  they  you  can  use  it.
The  recommended  dose  for  Glutaraldehyde  or  Seachem  Flourish  Excel  is  1mL/10gal  daily  or  every  other  day.  Dose  5mL/10gal  after  water  changes.,  The  Glut  must  be  1.5%  solution.
If  your  glut  has  more  percentage  then  mix  it  with  RO  water  (not  compulsory)  to  get  to  1.5  %.  You  can  use  the  calculator  link  I  have  given  already  to  do  the  math.
The  same  link  can  also  be  used  for  calculating  NKP  solution  also.  there  are  many  formulas  to  brew  the  fertilizer.  Estimative  Index  seems  the  most  popular,  you  can  start  with  it.

Yeah  i  am  already  dosing.  I  have  2x2l  bottle  for  diy  co2  which  gives  1  bps  consistently.  Glut  is  more  complicated  i  guess  so  will  be  going  for  Excel.

Array  yaaar  your  soil  is  brackish.  You  must  always  wait  for  the  soil  to  cleanup.  IMO  you  have  simply  got  the  river  sand....  dumped  it  in  the  tank...and  started  planting....right?

Remove  the  plants,  keep  them  seperately  and  dose  them  weith  ferts  (if  you  have)

then  first  siphon  off  all  the  dirt  and  bring  the  soil  to  stone/chips  level.

when  you  buy/get  plants  it  comes  from  different  levels  of  substartes  and  water  quality.  You  must  ensure  how  they  were  grown  ifrst,  or  else  they  will  just  shed.

Your  tank  has  soil  which  is  dirty.  clean  the  soil  properly  and  then  you  may  not  even  need  to  dose.

Come  to  MAM  on  Sunday,  join  us  at  Dadar  5  Garden.

BTW  thas  a  lovely  tank  Andrew  Thumb Up
