 Hi  guys
i  used  to  feed  my  GTs  a  taiyo  branded  pellets  but  then   when  a  IAH  friend  saw  this   food  he  informed  me  to  go  with  tetrabits  as  the  previos  food  was  bad
 i  took  his  advise
i  am  using  tetrabits  and  my   fishes   gulp  it  down  so  its   a  good  sign  Chuckle

my  question   here  is  a  little  strange   Sad
which  type  is  better   floting  type  or  sinking  type
i  was  unable  to  find  the  adequate  answers  to  answer  my  doubts   of   which  food  is  good  long  term  the  floating  or  sinking  type  instead  the  answers  i  got   confused  me  even   Surprised  more

i  have  3  brands  in  question

 [*]Tetra  bits
[*]Hikari  Bio  gold  +  (Floatng  type)
 [*]Hikari  Cichlid  Excel  (Sinking  type)

Hope  i  can  get  a  nice  explanation  as  to  which  is  recommended  Bow

Sinking  type  food  is  mainly  for  bottom  feeders,  so  most  people  use  floating  type  if  you  got  bottom  feeder  then  you  can  go  with  sinking  type  and  according  to  me  hikari  is  best  and  if  you  can  get  New  Life  spectrum  food  then  go  for  that  is  one  of  the  best  food  in  market.

As  you  are  keeping  GT,  your  present  feeding  is  good  enough.  Sinking,  floating  and  the  slow  sinking  Tetra  Bits.  Your  fishes  won't  get  habitual  to  any  one  of  the  types  of  food.
I  also  use  these  3  types  of  food  for  my  peacocks.
However,  floating  food  is  better  in  a  way  that  it  doesn't  get  stuck  in  your  hard  scape  and  deter  water  quality.

I  like  that  point  u  made  Vivian
But  like  immu  said  they  do  tend  to  get  stuck  in  the  gravel
I  was  told  floating  type  would  be  the  cause  of  bloat  as  they  suck  in  air  while  eating  the  pellets  so  I  decided  to  go  fr  sinking  as  it  will  help  I  don't  have  a  issue  if  I  have  to  even  clean  up  after  the  feeding  time  but  is  this  right  that  floating   type.  would  lead  to  all  this

Taiyo  is  not  "bad",  per  se.  I  use  Taiyo  Staple  flakes  and  Taiyo  Spirulina  flakes  for  my  fish,  and  they  happily  gobble  them  up.  The  flakes,  also  do  not  cloud  the  water,  if  left  in.
However,  note  that,  I  have  found  that  these  flakes  are  starchy,  and  only  feed  them  on  alternate  days.  Else,  I  feed  some  Sera  Guppy  bits,  which  is  of  the  slow  sinking  type,  and  some  Hikari  Fancy  Guppy  micro-pellets.
Once  a  week,  I  feed  them  the  same  pellets  soaked  in  Seachem  Garlic  Guard.  I  also  have  some  Hikari  Algae  sinking  wafers  which  I  feed  to  my  plecos.  The  plecos  love  this  food,  while  also  cleaning  (eating?)  up  the  rest  of  the  sunken  food  from  the  tank  bottom.

Why  am  I  explaining  this  in  such  detail?  I  just  want  to  let  you  know  that  a  little  variation  of  the  food  you  feed  your  little  friends,  goes  a  long  way  in  keeping  them  happy.  Give  your  GTs  some  of  each  type,  and  find  out  what  they  prefer.  Sorry,  but  you  will  have  to  spend  some  good  money  to  actually  find  this  out.

The  idea  that  bloat  is  caused  by  inhaling  air  when  trying  to  eat  floating  food  is  absurd,  in  my  opinion.  Bloat  is  a  result  of  an  internal  parasitic/bacterial  infection.  It  is  exacerbated  by  a  starchy  diet  which  causes  constipation  in  fish.  So,  regardless  of  which  food  you  feed,  if  the  fish  has  a  parasitic  /  bacterial  infection  and  the  food  you  feed  is  a  bit  over-starchy,  then  the  fish  might  get  bloat.
