Hi Andrew,
It's a Beauty!!! Â
Also, I see that you are maintaining a good water current flow using the 2 lilly pipes placed at the Opposite corners near the water level.
Is this sufficient to have a good water flow even near the bottom of your tank?
I have a single long spray bar towards the left side of my tank which comes from a Dophin 1600 filter and I'm not happy with the water flow as I see the Protein layer formed regularly.
Does a wavemaker help to increase the waterflow for a better circulation?
Thanks,
Karthik

Thanks Karthik,
whatever type of flow whether spray bar or lily pipe there will be good water flow in bottom also, so no need to worry about that, Most of the people will keep spray bar in backside but i always placed in side of my tank only, i used spray bar only first, when i got BBA kept another filter for better water circulation but the current was too much so i replaced with lily pipe now the flow current is good and BBA also gone, Before placing the lily pipe i checked the flow by placing it in my quarantine tank and poured some ink to see how the flows goes after that only i placed in opposite corner which gives perfect circular flow for me, i use 10mm lily pipe and 16mm lily pipe, i really love the flow from lily pipe because it was good flow around tank and not strong also.
Surface film forms sometimes from your co2 also and if you dose macro and micro on same day also you can see the film or some of your hard scape is leaching out there are many reason for it you need to improve surface agitation or keep skimmer if you see the above pic i use skimmer which comes with sunsun filter because when i changed to PPS pro dosing method i started getting film on top because in pps pro we dose macro n micro on same day to confirm that i changed back to EI not getting the film but I'm a lover of pps-pro dosing method so kept skimmer which comes with sunsun filter but did little changes to it for working better, actual setup doesn't work at all.
yep wave maker will do the job but always follow the 10x rule more than that your fish will be unhappy and will be in stress. my tank is around 200-210 litres and i use 2000litre output and 600litre output but after adding media and all my total flow from both canister will be around 2000 only.

Hi,
Below are some pic of the plants.
lobelia cardinalis : In highlight this plant really grows compact and bushy
Limnophila Aromatica: This plant also grows compact and bushy with highlight and requires proper fert dosing when i bought it was purple and it started to shoot green leaves and after doing some research some said decreasing nitrates will emit purple, now I'm dosing less nitrates and the new shoots are coming purple but really not sure whether it's because of nitrates.
Limnophila Aromatica and Ludwigia Inclinata Var Cuba

Andrew,
I find your methods very simple but highly inspiring. Especially the Ink idea was wonderful. However, the more I search on the Internet for the flow. The more I'm confused. I've started a new topic your inputs will be highly appreciated
Thanks,
Karthik. |

Its always good not to have a dead spot in the tank. Moving water would be always good to have the fertilizer and co2 reaching the entire area of the tank. |
