 Hi  Guys,

I  am  planning  to  upgrade  to  a  pressurised  Co2  set  up.

After  a  lot  of  reading  on  this  forum  ,  I  have  concluded  that  in  terms  of  Co2  regulators  there  are  two  choices..Yamato  or  ISTA..which  has  been  discussed  quite  a  lot.

I  would  need  advise  as  to  which  one  to  go  for  in  terms  of  durability  and  ease  of  functioning..

 Thanks  once  again..

I  have  been  using  Yamato  for  the  last  6  years  with  out  problems.  it  does  not  come  with  a  guarantee.  Its  cheaper  that  ISTA.  The  dealers  I  spoke  to  said  that  even  though  they  give  a  guarantee  for  ISAT,  if  something  does  not  work,  claiming  a  refund/fixing  it  is  next  to  impossible.

Go  for  Yamato,  no  guarantee,  but  can  run  for  years  also.  If  faulty,  can  be  repaired.  If  totally  busted  can  be  easily  replaced  due  to  low  cost.

There  are  many  industrial  pneumatic   parts  shop  on  SP  road  towards  mosque  side  or  the  SJP  road  that  is  parallel  and  behind  the  SP  road.   Any  shop  is  same  shop  there.   They  not  really  care  us  much  since  we  buy  a  single  piece  and  also  ask  questions.

You  will  need  a  regulator,  needle  valve,  push  fit  connector  to  fix  the  blue  CO2  pipe  (know  the  dia  of  pipe  prior  you  go).  Teflon  tape,  spanner  matching  threads  etc  if  u  plan  DIY  fitting.

 Good  luck  !

Try  Izzy  hardware.  Its  on  first  floor  on  sp  road.  He  deals  in  safety  equipment.  He  will  help  you  get  the  regulator.  On  the  ground  floor  you  will  find  a  shop  where  you  can  buy  all  the  rest  of  the  stuff.

 Thanks  again  Shyam  and  Preetam..

Just  one  more  question..Can  you  get  Co2  cylinders  as  well  on  SP  road..?

or  do  you  suggest  to  fetch  it  from  an  LFS..?

Thanks  again  for  all  the  guidance..Just  by  going  through  the  threads  on  IAH...I  have  gained  immense  knowledge  on  Co2  subject  !!!  Great  forum  to  be  a  part  of..   Clapping   Clapping   Thumbs Up

You  need  to  get  the  internal  pipe  from  the  CO2  extinguisher  removed  before  using  it  for  planted  tank.  This  will  not  be  done  by  the  seller  on  SP  road,  so  you  are  better  off  buying  it  from  an  LFS.

***  Check  the  manufacturing  date  on  the  cylinder.  Don't  accept  if  its  older  than  15  years.  They  are  at  the  end  of  their  life  and  some  co2  re  fillers  will  refuse  to  fill  the  old  cylinders.  If  you  don't  see  a  manufacturing  date  then  don't  buy  it.

There  is  a  sticky  thread  by  Trevor  in  the  Planted  tank  section.  Read  it  thoroughly.  see  link  below

I'm  also  looking  for  a  CO2  setup  for  a  10G  tank.  I'm  from  North  Bangalore  -  Around  Jalahalli  corss.
Where  can  I  get  one  reliable  and  cheaper  co2  tank?  Any  idea  where  to  get  it  refilled  and  how  much  it  costs?
