 Method  1)
Remove  stones  and  rub  off  the  algae.

 Method  2)
Hydrogen  Peroxide  (H2O2):  use  H2O2  by  dosing  it  over  the  algae  using  a  syringe.  The  algae  will  turn  brown  and  peel  off  after  a  while.  Do  this  only  once  per  day,  since  H2O2  releases  nascent  oxygen,  which  irritates  your  fish  and  other  plants  /  living  organisms  in  the  tank.  Search  on  google  to  find  out  how  much  is  the  daily  safe  dosage  of  H2O2  for  your  tank  volume.  you  will  need  to  spot  dose  the  H2O2  over  the  algae,  do  not  dose  it  in  your  entire  tank  like  glut.  Speaking  of  glut,  if  yours  is  a  planted  tank,  dosing  glut,  and  keeping  CO2  off  for  a  while  (some  days)  is  also  known  to  reduce  algae.

 Method  3)
Mask  the  algae  with  some  Java  Moss,  and  add  floating  /  rock-attached  ceratophyllum  demersum,  which  will  absorb  the  extra  nutrients  in  the  water,  and  the  algae  will  disappear  over  a  few  months.

 Method  4)
 add  a  DIY  Algae  scrubber.

In  all  the  above  methods,  performing  large  partial  water  changes  every  alternate  day,  for  5  days,  will  bring  down  whatever  high  nitrates  or  other  nutrients  there  are  in  your  water.  Do  this  only  if  your  fish  can  adjust  to  it  easily.

 Thuds,

it  could  be  mainly  because  you  have  added  the  live  stock,  the  nutrient  balance  has  got  disturbed.

Stop  dosing  the  nutrients  and  may  be  the  algae  would  reduce  a  bit.  Also  try  spot  dosing  Glut  on  the  algae  affected  patches,  especially  in  the  crevices,  where  the  brush  would  not  reach  easily.  Opt  for  frequent  water  changes  and  that  would  also  help  in  controlling  the  algae.

Try  adding  some  babies  of  Black  mollies.  They  love  munching  on  algae.

Nerite  snails  will  clean  those  rocks  clean.  They  might  even  make  the  look  of  your  natural  scaped  rocks  with  algae  different.

 Pio,

Thanks  for  your  suggestion  I  have  1/2  a  dozen  Assassin  snails  in  the  tank  they  have  got  rid  of  the  entire  snail  population  in  my  tank  which  was  an  ugly  sight  and  I  am  sure  they  will  feast  on  the  Nitrite  snails.

 Any  other  suggestions?

Oh  !  You  got  assassins  in.

Place  one  Nerite  on  the  stone  and  track  it   Chuckle

Guess  you'll  need  to  put  a  pic  of  the  algae  for  more  suggestions

Make  a  2%  solution  of  glutaraldehyde  and  spot  treat  the  stones  with  the  solution  using  a  syringe.  Keep  the  dosage  of  solution  use  below  150ml  /  100  liter  tank  water  volume.  Keep  your  lights  on  after  use  as  the  solution  will  provide  carbon  to  aquarium  plants  for  photosynthesis.  If  the  volume  limit  of  solution  is  insufficient  to  treat  all  the  algae  then  wait  till  tomorrow  for  further  treatment.  First  clear  one  patch  of  algae  by  repeated  daily  treatments  before  moving  on  to  further  patches.

Caution:  treat  the  glutaraldehyde  with  appropriate  caution.

 Hi  Guys,

The  spot  hydrogen  peroxide  treatment  with  a  syringe  on  the  stones  and  60%  water  change  worked  but  will  have  to  do  it  again  to  completely  remove  the  algae  from  the  stones.

The  livestock  was  affected  particularly  the  Neon  tetras  lost  4  neon’s  the  rest  Black  Tetra  and  the  assassin  snail  are  doing  fine  but  not  eating  possibly  because  I  dosed  approx.  30ml  in  a  125  litre  tank.

 Your  comments  and  views  welcome.

So  your  assessment  of  your  result  is  "worked"

And  your  of  the  satisfaction  of  results  is  "will  have  to  do  it  again"

It  appears  I  have  to  invite  you  Ranchi  and  give  you  a  treat  at  the  CIP.
